Where Can I Adopt a Pet?

I met some amazing brands and their representatives during the BlogPaws conference.  It was wonderful to be surrounded by companies that actually care as much about our pets as we do.  It will take several posts to tell you about all of the fabulous people that I met.  This is Tuesday’s Tails, so it is the perfect time to introduce one group that attended.
The PetSmartCharities, Inc. is a nonprofit animal welfare organization.  They have

of over 400,000 dogs and cats each year by finding loving homes for them. That adds up to over five million adoptions to date! You have probably seen the adoption programs in action when you visit one of their wonderful stores.  The Shreveport PetSavers hosts adoptions at our local PetSmart every Saturday.  PetSmart Charities also grants more money to help pets in need than any other animal welfare group in North America.  They focus on funding spay/neuter programs that help relieve the pet overpopulation.  They are responsible for 10% of all pet adoptions.
PetSmart has a program known as EAC or Everyday Adoption Centers.  It is a group effort between PetSmart Charities, PetSmart, local animal welfare organizations and communities to save homeless pets’ lives.  This has resulted in a permanent, in-store adoption center for both dogs and cats that is open every day.  These centers are staffed by the local adoption partner during the store’s regular hours.
The first EAC opened in Fort Worth, Texas back in 2010.  Each center averages 2,400 square feet and has a meet & greet room, a play/socialization room, and a utility room for food prep and maintenance.  The centers can provide space for up to 20 dogs and 16 cats.  The centers are currently averaging 30 adoptions each week.  That equals a lot of happy pets and families.  There are 17 of these wonderful facilities across the U.S. and there are plans to open many more.  Their booth at the BlogPaws Conference had stickers where you could place the location that you’d like to see open on a giant map.  I chose Shreveport and have my fingers crossed.
After meeting with the great people that were representing PetSmart Charities, I love PetSmart even more than before.  It is Bentley and Pierre favorite store.  I love to bring my boys to shop there.  It is one of the only pet friendly places in my city.

*I was not asked to post this information.  It is such a fantastic organization that I wanted my readers to know about it.

These adorable part Basset dogs are still looking for a loving home.  Please share them on your Social Media.  Every dog deserves a forever family.  Please contact PetSavers and ask for Joe or Oscar.  (318) 636-0400

  4. I agree, PetSmart Charities is a top notch group! I met them last year after they'd done a lot of work helping Hurricane Sandy survivors. They do great work!

  10. We also love PetSmart charities...not to mention the things they do with local animal shelters...In Austin they were very involved with local shelters and rescue groups. I wish we had a PetSmart here in the Eureka area...
