BFTB Channel 7 NETWoof News 2/23/2015

Bentley: “Hello friends and welcome to BFTB Channel 7 NETWoof News.  It’s International Dog Biscuit Day, so grab a treat (or have your human make them) and enjoy some good news to start your week.  I’m here with my co-anchor Pierre Westie and Paisley, our Weather Lab.  We have tracked down the latest news worth sniffing.  This is usually where I turn the top story over to Pierre.  However, the top story is about Miss P, the gorgeous Beagle that took the Best in Show award at Westminster.  I don’t have to tell you how proud it makes us Hound Dogs to be recognized as Top Dog!  There were some fabulous dogs showing this year.  BFTB salutes them all.  Pierre, I noticed you were quite excited.”
Pierre: “I love the pomp and circumstance of the Westminster.  Did you see the swimsuit and talent portion?  They must have done it when I was outside on a break.  Miss P. probably wowed in a sleek one piece.  If a Terrier couldn’t win, then I’m glad it was a Hound.  You believe me, don’t you?”
Bentley: “Of course, you are a trustworthy newshound.  This brings me to our next story.  It appears that the humans are doing more studies about dogs.  We have pointed out on numerous occasions that scientists and researchers could say a lot of time and money if they simply asked pet parents questions.  A recent study shows that dogs can tell if a human is trustworthy.”
Pierre: “Seriously?  Of course, we can tell if a human is worth our trust.  Surely, they've heard the saying ‘If your dog doesn’t trust somebody, then you probably shouldn’t either.’  Don’t researchers have Pinterest?”
Bentley: You’d think they would.  Dogs are sensitive with big hearts.  Speaking of hearts, our next story is about the hearts of a woman and her dog.  A 41-year-old pet lover shares a special bond with her 5-year-old Cairn Terrier.  They both have a medical condition heart block.  Now, they share the same type of pacemaker.  The two pacemakers are nearly identical.  They even go to the same doctor for checkups although the pup, Molly, goes after hours.  I’d say they have found a doctor that’s a good sport.  That seems like a perfect segue to pitch it to Pierre.”

Pierre: “You’re right, let’s dive right into sports for this week.  Our good friend Cello and Hooch are making waves in the 2015 Dock Diving competitions.  They recently attended the Virginia World of Pets Expo in Hampton and made a big splash!  Cello’s longest Big Air jump was 21’11” and she made Elite Finals where she placed third.  Her Extreme Vertical of 5’4” brought her third in the Cadet Division.  She had personal best in the speed recovery with an astounding 8.788 seconds.  She took first in the Iron Dog Warrior Division.  You can see her in action here:

Bentley: “That is remarkable.  I saw where our little Hooch has grown up to become quite little dock diver himself.  The youngest German Shorthaired Pointer of the family placed in every Big Air wave he competed in and earned a first place ribbon.  It was only his second event and he made Novice Finals where he placed second.  Hooch’s best jump was 8’10” and you can see it below in slo-mo.  On a side note, Team Cello also won the event’s Valentine Box Decoration Contest.  I guess when you’re on a winning streak…”

Paisley: “Isn’t Hooch the dreamiest?  Sigh.”
Pierre: “It’s our Weather Lab Paisley!  Girlfriend, what is going on with this weather?  We have gone from temps nearing 70˚ on Saturday to having our local schools cancelled today for a winter weather advisory.”

Paisley: “Trying to predict this weather is like chasing my tail.  I can get close, but it is hard to get a firm bite on it.  We may be experiencing icing on our streets and you know that our humans are not used to driving on frozen roads.  It will be best that if it really does freeze over here, ya’ll just stay inside and cuddle.  Our weather is still mild compared to our neighbors to our west.  They will get heavy snow over the Central Rockies and heavy rains will make for a mess in Southern California.  Temperatures will be 25 to 40˚ below average in parts of the central plains.  That is face hurting cold, my friends.  I don’t want those of you in the northeast to be super stoked, but y’all will warm up for a day or two before you freeze all over again.  I’m sorry, but it is winter.  On a happy note, there are only 25 days until the first day of spring!  That’s it from me, Paisley the Weather Lab.  Back to you Bentley.”
Bentley: “Thanks for joining us as we dig up the good stuff each week.  From all of us at BFTB NETWoof News, have a spectacular week, stay safe, stay warm, and be sure to grab yourself some happy.”

  3. We love to watch dock diving when we find it on tv, cool sport. It is -15 here without the wind chill this morning which means we have to wear boots to keep the paws from freezing and the walk will only be like 20 mins, but it will be warmer this afternoon so we can get in a good walk. Glad it was Pierre lookin' for the swimsuit competition at Westminster so I don't need to be jealous!

  16. Ma has given ups on the Westminster Doggie show, since they seem to have a thing against the Airedales. She's a little bitter. Butts, I say, all doggies are pawsome, and I will celebrate any doggie's win!! (though, and Airedale would be a FABulous choice! just sayin'...☺)
I do loves watchin' the divin' competition though! I wish I could fly like them! unless there's a margarita flyin' through the air (or a tree rat!), I'm not gettn' my furs wet! BOL
    FABulous newscast, as always guys!!
    Kisses,

  19. You hit the nail on the head with the weather here in the Northeast, Paisley. We had one rather warm day (if you can call 28 degrees warm), and then this morning we woke up to 25 below! Could we please have the 28 above back? :)
