Barkotti on the Bayou

Remember back when your choice of dog treats was limited to a handful of ho-hum rawhides or bones?  Well, the times they are a-changing!  The Barking from the Bayou gang recently met the Dr. Harvey’s gang and it was a match made in heaven.  Last month, we introduced you to their fantastic Coconut Smiles treats.  Bentley and Pierre LOVE them!  If you thought that we were through tempting your drool meters, you were wrong.  Check out what we have for Tasty Tuesday!
Barkotti by Dr. Harvey’s is handmade biscotti for dogs.  I am serious!  First, the packaging looks like a gift box from a high-end retailer.  Then, wait until you open the resealable inner bag.  The smell is incredible and they look better than many of the biscotti that I have bought for myself.

Dr. Harvey's Barkotti look delicious!

Bentley: “Pssst, Mom!  Are you finished with the review?  May I have another Barkotti?  I really neeeeed one this time.  It is soooo much more than a want.  It is a true need.  Look at them!  I can’t resist the texture and the way they fill my mouth with what can only be described as lovin' from the oven.”
Me: “Don’t you think that you’re laying it on a little thick?  Although, they do look like a delicious chocolate biscotti.  Hmm, maybe with some coffee…”
Bentley: “Oh no you don’t!  These babies are mine!  It says right here on the label ‘For Dogs’ and I am dogs, errr, the dog.”
Me: “It also says, ‘100% Human Grade Ingredients Only’ and I am the human.  Haha!  I’m just teasing you; these Dr. Harvey’s Barkotti are for you and Pierre to share.  Don’t give me the look.  Pierre loves them too.  They are made with all organic ingredients including oat flour, barley flour, molasses, malt, flaxseed oil, 8 vegetables, apples, and bee pollen.  On second thought…”
Pierre: “Did I hear you move our box of delectable Barkotti biscuits?  I’m sure that I heard you mention Barkotti and me in the same sentence.  Pass me one while I mention the things that are not in these most awesome of dog snacks.  You won’t find any artificial colors or flavors, nada on the preservatives, nope to wheat, soy, or corn, and Dr. Harvey’s doesn’t add sugar or salt.  It’s a very special healthy treat for dogs that deserve the best.  FYI~ ALL dogs deserve the best.  This Barkotti reminds me of being in New York City’s Little Italy that time we were investigating those dog show thefts.”

The Returns team enjoy Little Italy and Dr. Harvey's Barkotti.

Me: “You do know that was in my book The Returns 2 ~ Showstoppers.  It didn’t really happen.”
Bentley: “Wow, Mom!  Ever hear of the old ‘Spoiler Alert’ warning?”
Me: “Seriously, y’all get back on track.  The reason I love Dr. Harvey’s Barkotti is it makes me feel like I’m giving you boys something extra special.  They are a great source of vitamins and minerals.  They also freshen your breath and help promote healthy teeth.  Barkotti would make a wonderful gift for doggie birthdays, Gotcha Days, or just when you want to say, “I love you.”
Bentley & Pierre: “Please say you love us with a Barkotti or two.”

You can buy your own box of Dr. Harvey’s Barkotti at a store near you or order directly from Dr. Harvey’s website.  They are available in a special small dog size or the medium –large dog size that we enjoyed for $13.95.  It is a one-pound box and has lasted us a couple of weeks so far.  *I did break them into smaller pieces, but don’t tell the boys!

Doesn't that Barkotti sound great? I was thinking as I read it that it would definitely make a great gift, with that attractive packaging. Though I think the dogs are telling me there's no reason to wait for a special occasion. :)
