BFTB NETWoof News 4/20/2015

Bentley: “It is hard to believe, but here we are at the beginning of another week.  Thank you as always for joining us to track down the news that you need.  I’m joined by my co-anchor, Pierre the Westie and our Weather Lab, Paisley.  We have a lot of news that we have dug up this week so let’s get started with our top story.”

Pierre: “We want to direct your attention to the Top 10 Poisons reported in 2014.  Please make sure that your best friend does not have access to any of these common products.  Never assume that your pet won’t investigate and eat any of these things because we will.  It comes with being a natural-born investigator.”

Bentley: “Accidental poisoning is the cause of us saying goodbye to many of our friends too soon.  Let’s be safe out there humans, you don’t want any trouble.  Speaking of trouble, did you see the couple that was threatened with a $750,000 fine for posting thousands of Lost Dog flyers throughout their neighborhood?  Ollie had been shot by its previous owner and panicked when he heard a car backfire.  His new owners did what any pet owner would do and printed up a bunch of posters.  A police officer recognized Ollie and returned him to his relieved family.  Now, they are faced with removing all of the posters in hopes of avoiding a massive fine.”

Pierre: “Wow that is high!  On the subject of being high, medical marijuana is being used to treat ailing and elderly dogs.  Legal in many states, medical marijuana has proven to alleviate symptoms of arthritis and other problems that come with aging.  The cannabis is delivered in the form of a treat infused with hemp and has a lower level of THC than regular marijuana.  It is still a gray area as veterinarians are not able to prescribe it to their patients.”

Bentley: “Is it just me or do y’all suddenly have the munchies?  Hee-hee!  There has been scientific research to prove that falling in love with those puppy dog eyes is not your fault.  Blame it on the oxytocin!  Scientists have discovered the connection between humans and dogs have the same biochemical basis as a mom and her child.  The same loving gaze strengthens that bond.  A study at Azabu University in Japan performed a series of experiments and found the parent-infant bond, made by oxytocin-facilitated gazing is comparable to the owner/dog bond.  Oxytocin is a hormone associated with trust and maternal bonding.  That’s why Mom says she is a dog parent and not a dog owner.  I love her for that.  Pierre, be a sport and report our sporting news.”
Pierre: “Oh, it was a huge weekend in Blogville.  Our mayors, Stanley and Murphy hosted the first Mayors Marathon.  There were around forty runners taking part and everyone had a grand time.  You can follow along the entire marathon here.  We are proud of our own Bentley who finished in an impressive fashion.  Yours truly was set up at Mile Marker #3 and made frequent trips to the food and beverage trucks.  Thanks to all of Blogville for an exceptionally awesome day!”

Bentley: “Thanks, Pierre.  I credit my speed to the Rejeneril that is added to my food each day.  It is an amazing product.  Have you seen Paisley?  That girl has grown by leaps and bounds.  We have a hard time keeping up with her until it’s time for the weather.  Paisley!  It’s time for your segment.”

Paisley: “Hiya guys!  I noticed that I have an anchor chair now instead of sitting on the desk.  Is that because I am such a professional?”
Pierre: “Hey Sweetie.  Yes, that’s one of the reasons that you’re sitting with us.  The other reason is that you are like 87 times bigger than I am!  I have my manly reputation to live up to, ya know.”
Paisley: “Oh Pierre, you are so silly!  This weather is nothing to laugh about this week.  We are still going to be stuck in a rain pattern here in the southern states.  A few of these storms could cause damage with high winds and maybe even a tornado.  To tell y’all the truth, the entire eastern half of the U.S. will be experiencing the rain.  They will have some snow in Colorado and Wyoming.  Our friends in California will have some fog to deal with, so drive carefully.
Bentley: “Good job Paisley!  I saw a picture on your Instagram of you studying at the computer.  I have to say that you do a terrific job of forecasting.  It has also come to our attention that we had the canine flu headlines a week before some of the major human news outlets reported it.  That’s just one more reason to make BFTB NETWoof News your go-to news source.”
Pierre: “Cool, do we get an award or anything?  I love awards!”
Bentley: “We don’t report for the glory, Pierre.  Our award is a loyal following and ratings.  Before we sign off, I have a couple of special announcements.  #1: Don’t forget to click here and enter to win Pierre’s birthday giveaway.  #2: My mom is a speaker on her first Webinar this Wednesday.  She would like us to invite everyone to watch.  It is about e-commerce and pet blogging.  Here is the link to reserve a spot.  That will do it for us.  Have a fantastic week, stay safe, and be sure to grab yourself some happy.”

Many mischievous thanks to our friends Alfie’s BlogSnoopy’s Dog Blog, and My Brown Newfies for their Mischief Monday blog hop.  Enjoy visiting

  3. I seem to have the munchies a lot. I wonder if getting into cat bro Bert's catnip could be the cause? It looks like marijuana??? Have a great week and stay away from those nasty poisons!

  4. Hmmm, I was hoping to see some better weather on your news report for us in the Southeast (compared to the dark looming storm clouds out my window). Oh well, I guess it's that time of year. Thanks for a great news report and Happy Monday!

  9. Interesting news this morning! The medical marijuana issue will be interesting to keep an eye on. I'm glad human prescription medications were on your list, since it's so easy for a dog to grab a pill that might have accidentally been dropped on the floor.
