BFTB NETWoof Channel 7 News 5/18/2015

Bentley: “Welcome to this week’s BFTB NETWoof News.  I am your newshound Bentley Basset.  Joining me at the anchor desk are my co-host Pierre Westie and our Weather Lab Paisley.  We have tracked down some exciting news for you this week.”
Pierre: “You are certainly right about that, Bentley.  Our top story is about the traveling woes of Pistol and Boo.  You might know them better as Johnny Depp’s Yorkies.  He flew them into Australia on a private plane and took them to his residence.  Mr. Depp is filming another Pirates of the Caribbean movie.  The quarantine laws are very strict Down Under to prevent the spread of disease.  Before you can bring a pet into the country, there are required permits and a 10-day quarantine.  They might have been able to stay undetected, but they went to the groomers and BAM!”
Bentley: “Pistol and Boo were facing the death penalty for a decision made by their human.  Luckily, Johnny got them back to California in the nick of time.  That’s why I don’t go to the groomer!  LOL!  I’m sure the dogs were healthy, but they just can’t make exceptions.  It must be hard to travel for work and have to be away from your pups.  We have another study showing how in sync dogs are with their people.  The University of Nebraska at Omaha found that a dog’s hormones synchronize to the hormones of their owners or handlers.  Wow!  We are really incredible animals, aren’t we?”
Pierre: “That we are my friend…that we are.  This last news story is also incredible.  You know we love a good reunion story and this is one definitely fits the bill.  Four years ago, Star, an adorable 11-month-old Pit Bull pup disappeared from her yard.  Star’s mom searched a ten-mile radius searching and plastering posters.  After two years, she decided that she’d never see her pup again.  Working as the manager of her local PAWS shelter, she went on to adopt two more Pits.  Imagine her joy when she received an email explaining Star was at an animal control center.  The dog had been taken into custody during a drug raid.  She was still wearing her original collar and four-year-old dog license!”
Bentley: “Star’s mom reports that her girl has been vetted, had her nails trimmed and is loving being back at home.  She is scheduled to be spayed and microchipped.  Please, remember to get your pet chipped.  I recently had it done.  You can read about it and see photos here.  It didn’t hurt and if anything ever happens, I can get home to my Mom and Dad.  Don’t put it off; you don’t ever plan to lose your pet!”

Pierre: “This was an exciting week for some of our friends in the sporting arena.  You probably know Gambler from the Sand Spring Chesapeakes.  He just celebrated his 4- year birthday with a big paw-ty.  Well, he is also a serious field dog competitor and can retrieve a bird from the land or the water.  Gambler passed his first AKC Master Hunter test with his dad last weekend.  We are really proud of him and send our congratulations!
Paisley: “Hiya guys!  I just wanted to tell y’all that I have my microchip.  It’s important for both girls and boys.  Am I in time for sports?  That dreamy German Shorthaired Pointer, Hooch won some dock diving awards!  He scored one-1st place and one-2nd place and achieved his Big Air personal best.  It was a whopping 16’1” and that is super!  His big sister Cello won three 1st place Master medals, one-2nd place Master medal, and one-3rd place Master medal in her waves.  She also came in 1st place overall in Semi-Pro Division Air Finals, the 1st place overall in Express Division Speed Retrieve and 1st place overall in Warrior Division Iron Dog!  You can see the videos on their Instagram.”
Bentley: “I give all three of these fantastic canines a big round of paws!  Good job!  Speaking of jobs, Paisley do you have the forecast?”

Paisley: “Of course, I’m the Weather Lab!  Our west coast peeps will experience some rain and that could trigger more mudslides.  Yuck!  A cool down is coming to the Midwest and the Northeast.  That will feel nice before the heat of summer settles on them.  Here in the south we will continue to battle thunderstorms, tornadoes, and flash flooding.  The sun might try to peek out a couple of days, but I don’t think we will see it today.  I hope that next week will be sunny.  Keep your paws crossed!”
Bentley: “We sure will.  Thanks, Paisley, and thanks again to our readers for joining us.  Stay safe out there and be sure to visit us every day for interesting reviews, dog tips, and laughs.  Better yet, have us delivered right in your email.  You can sign-up at the top right side of our page or we are also available on Bloglovin’.  Give your pet a hug and take the time to grab yourself some happy this week!”

  12. Actually the quarantine in Australia is 1 month providing the dogs have has a series or rabies shots and parasite testing done for 6 months before arriving - otherwise they spend 6 months in quarantine. Mom knows all about it as when her and Dad retire we are all going back there. Australia doesn't have rabies or foot n mouth disease which is why they are so strict as the native animals there would have no resistance to them.

  14. So much good news! I hadn't heard what happened to Johnny Depp's dogs, I'm so glad they got home safely. Hopefully their Dad learned his lesson not to try to skirt the laws.

  16. Great news roundup, guys! I'm glad Johnny Depp's dogs got out of there ok! I can understand the government being upset and all (after all, the rules are there for a reasom and he should follow them like everyone else), but threatening to put the dogs down seemed a bit over the top for the folks down under! (Gosh, those Australians aren't as laid back as I always imagined them to be!)
