Bravo! Makes Good Happen

Over the past few months, I have become very conscientious about the food I feed Bentley and Pierre.  Gone are the days of buying a bag of dog food with pretty colors and ingredients that only a nutritionist can pronounce.  It is important to know what goes into our dog’s bodies to ensure that they are living a healthy life.  That is why most of their meals are prepared in my own kitchen with the help of some awesome products.
Bravo! Pork and Beef Freeze-Dried Dog Food
In many cases, I provide the meat protein.  It is not always convenient and when I find a company that makes my life simpler, I am all for it.  Who doesn’t like knowing that you’re feeding an awesome food that doesn’t take an hour to make?
Introducing Bravo! Homestyle Complete™.  It is a complete line of freeze dried raw diet meals in a convenient package.  You can tell as soon as you look at the dinners that your dog is getting real meat or poultry as the #1 ingredient.  We tried the pork last night for the first time.  It is so simple to make, just add equal amounts of water to food.
Bravo! Homestyle Pork is easy, just add water

The hardest part for Bentley was waiting for it to absorb the water, which takes 15 to 20 minutes.  I’m sure that I’ve mentioned how he begins his starvation routine after signaling it is time to eat.  After adding the water, I moved the bowl to the table and set the timer.  He walked over and sat up watching the bowl with anticipation.  When the timer rang, he and Pierre proceeded to have a drool-fest while I poured it into their bowls!
Anticipation is making Bentley Basset wait.

So, what is in the Bravo Homestyle Complete Dinners?  Here are the ingredients in the order they appear; pork, sweet potatoes, pork liver, chickpeas, pork heart, pork kidney, green beans, eggs, and cranberries. You won’t find any hormones, antibiotics, artificial preservatives, flavors, or colors.  The meals are also grain and gluten-free.  If you ask Bentley and Pierre, they will tell you that it is 100% freeze-dried perfection.  They will also tell you that they know I still have the Beef Dinner for Dogs left to make.  It contains the same awesome ingredients except with beef, beef liver, beef heart, beef kidney, and the beef spleen.

Bravo! Homestyle Complete are single protein dinners which is important for us.  I am trying to keep Bentley on cool or neutral proteins for his allergies.  Both pork and beef fall under the neutral proteins, so they do not trigger his itching and won’t lead to more ear infections.  You can read more about the effects of proteins here.
The Bravo! Company is a family-owned business that has written the book of raw feeding.  Seriously, they had a book written exclusively for them by Melinda Miller.  She is a nationally recognized pet dietary and behavioral consultant.  She is also the co-founder and president of the North American Raw Petfood Association.  The book is titled Bravo! Beginnings and it explains everything that you need to know about introducing your dog to a raw diet.  There is also a section for Honoring Your Cat’s Natural Diet by Terri Grow.  You can download a copy for free by clicking here.

  9. that looks exactly like our sojos - but we agree - the hardest thing of all is waiting for that timer to go off - but Mom has found a way around that - you can actually make a couple of days worth and store it in the refrigerator - then it is ready to use at dinner time
