A Fish Tale #FFHT

Summers were invented for lazy days drifting in a boat and doing some fishing with your best friend. In the case of Bentley and Pierre, their recent adventure is being shared as part of Murphy & Stanley Fractured Fryday’s Hairy Tails. The object is to create a story that includes a particular phrase. This month’s “Special Inclusion” is: “That was the first time I ever…
I hope that you enjoy today’s story.

"I know what you're thinking; something is fishy here!"
Pierre: “It was a dark and stormy night beautiful sunny day when Bentley and I decided to try our paws at fishing. We hitched up the boat and headed out for our local lake.”

The Dog's Missing

There are three little words that all pet parents dread; “The dog’s missing!” Yet each day those words are repeated in homes across the country. Like all disasters, you need to be prepared in the event it happens.
How to safeguard your pet
·        Never let your dog run loose or unsupervised.
·        Keep a collar on your pet. How many times have you heard, “He isn’t wearing a collar, may we keep him?”

8 Photographs of #Happiness

Bentley and Pierre were recently tagged by our good friend, Whitley the Westie to share Eight Photos of Happiness.  If you don’t follow Whitley, you should pop over and say “howdy.” She is a Texas girl who is known for her adorable dresses, playing pool ball while floating on an air mattress, swimming, barking, and playing with her friends. Pierre has a crush on her.
Thanks to Ariel’s Little Corner of the Internet for coming up with this fun idea of sharing a bit of happiness.

Since both of the boys were tagged, I decided to feature photos with both of them. I hope they make you happy.

The Plight of the Potcakes

Have you ever heard of a Potcake? They are a mixed breed of dog that is native to the Turks and Caicos Islands and the Bahamas. The name Potcake comes from a congealed rice and pea mixture that the locals feed their dogs. Most potcake dogs have smooth coats, cocked ears, and long faces. They are really cute, but they need help.

PetSafe and Pet Hydration Month

July is Pet Hydration Month and we are celebrating with our friends at PetSafe®. Providing your pet with clean fresh water is vital for their health and well-being. Did you realize that a dog needs to drink 1 ounce of water for every pound of body weight? Depending on your dog, that can be a lot of water! Of course, you can lead a dog to water, but you can’t make them drink. Getting some dogs to drink enough can be a real problem for many pet parents. Water is necessary to cushion joints and support vital organs. How can a pet parent help?

It is a Snood

Me: “Bentley, look at what I ordered for you!  It’s a snood!”
Bentley: “A what?”
Me: “A snood is a covering for your neck, head and those long ears.”
Bentley: “I don’t get it.”
Me: “It fits around your head to protect your ears from sloppy eating or being dragged through the mud.”
Bentley: “I fear the only thing that will be dragged through the mud is my masculinity if I wear this!”
Me: “Don’t be ridiculous. They are unisex and I didn’t order girly prints.  Look, this one has a sun visor.  How cool is that?”
Bentley: “I do look rather adorable in it.  I’ll consider it. I do loathe having crusty tips on my ears.  It’s a real turn-off for the babes.”

Darling Collars from Darla Jane's

Photo courtesy of  Louie The French Dog
We met so many awesome people and pets at BlogPaws this year.  I fell in love with a certain French gentleman.  His name is Louie and he’s an adorable French Bulldog.  He has one of those faces that you just want to kiss.  You can read his adventures on their blog, The French Dog. As I was trying to control my urge to cuddle him, he lifted his head and I saw that he was wearing a bowtie collar.  There should have been a “Caution! Cuteness Overload” neon sign on him.  I asked his mom, Karen, where she had found such a great collar.  It was very exciting to discover that she actually made Louie’s collar.  She has her own Etsy store, Darla Jane’s.
Karen began her store after raising puppies for 15 years.  The new puppy owners would get excited about buying collars and toys for their new “baby.”  She quickly realized there was a huge market for unique dog accessories.  She makes custom-fitted coats for dogs that are harder to fit than some others.  Dogs like Louie and Bentley usually can’t buy “off-the-rack” clothes and accessories.  At Darla Jane’s, she can take your pets measurements and make sure that you get the correct size.  She fits average-sized dogs too!
