BFTB NETWoof News for the Week of July 6, 2015

Bentley: “Hello and welcome to this week at BFTB NETWoof News.  I am your ears and nose to the ground anchor, Bentley and next to me is my co-anchor, Pierre Westie.  We are also joined by our Weather Lab Paisley.  We have a lot of news this week so let’s fetch our top story.  Pierre?”
BFTB NETWOOF Channel 7 News Top Story

Pierre: “This week top story is a recall of Stella & Chewy’s Freeze-Dried products. They were informed by the Maryland Department of Agriculture that a single lot of the Chicken Freeze-Dried Dinner Patties tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. Although there are no reports of any illnesses associated with this recall, the company has voluntarily recalled several others in their line of freeze-dried foods for both dogs and cats. You can get a complete list and the lot numbers here.”
Bentley: “I hate when bad things happen to a good company.  On a positive dog food note, our friends at Merrick Pet Care have teamed up with the good people of K9s For Warriors. Merrick will be providing all of the food and training treats to the shelter dogs that are selected from across the U.S.A. These dogs are professionally trained on the grounds of K9s for Warriors and then matched with a veteran that is suffering from PTSD or a traumatic brain injury.  The team will spend three weeks training together beside up to 17 warrior-dog teams. The bond between K9 and warrior is life-changing and gives many veterans a new chance at life.  Merrick isn’t stopping there; they are also donating $50,000 to this amazing non-profit organization. Be sure to watch Petco and other retailers for a special limited-edition canned food honoring our American military veterans.  You can find out more by visiting their social media listed at the end of this broadcast or watching this video.”
Pierre:  “I love when that happens.  Here is another story of new chances. The house that previously belonged to convicted dog fighter Michael Vick has been turned into a place for abused animals to recover.  The Good Newz Rehab Center for Chained and Penned Dogs has taken over the former Bad Newz Kennels.  The property was purchased in 2011 by raising donations.  A place of unspeakable horrors has been transformed into a place of love, trust, and hope. It doesn’t make-up for what happened there, but it does prove that sometimes the good guys win.”
Bentley: “This next story is exciting for those of us who reside in Blogville.  Our mayors Murphy and Stanley met with Dory on vacation.  They thought it would be awesome if the residents of Blogville could have a meet and greet somewhere next summer.  If a pet-friendly central location for those interested could be selected, we could all get together and visit.  Talk about a paw-ty!  All interested Blogvillians are asked to contact our Mayor Doods office.”
BFTB NETWoof Sports with Blogville Rodeo

Pierre: “This Thursday is the big Blogville Rodeo!  If you love sports, and who doesn’t, this is the place for you. There will be wranglin’ and ropin’ along with mutton-bustin’ and dancin’.  I’m sure there will be a heap of vittles and something to wet your whistle.  You can see all of the BFTB news team participating…I mean, participatin’.”
Paisley: “Hiya boys!  I am going to be at the Blogville Rodeo. Do I have to talk funny like you, Pierre?”
Pierre: “Hey Paisley! I was just trying to channel my inner cowboy.  You can just use your own sweet southern drawl. The fun begins at Murphy and Stanley’s on July 9th. Hot dog! You don’t want to miss this!”
Paisley: “Speaking of hot dogs, did you happen to see the Fourth of July annual Hot Dog Eating Contest at Nathan’s on Coney Island? Matt Stonie beat the favorite by eating 62 hot dogs in ten minutes. Ugh! I mean, I love a hot dog as much as the next puppy, but 62? He must have a horrible tummy ache this morning!”
Bentley: “Competitive eating…I think a gold medal could be in my future. How is the weather looking this week?”
BFTB NETWoof Weather presented by our Weather Lab, Paisley

Paisley: “I can tell you that everyone gets rain except for the folks who need it the most.  California and the surrounding states will continue to battle wildfires as the temperatures soar.  Our friends from Washington to Idaho will have the 90s and some triple digits this week.  The threat of severe thunderstorms will continue in the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest.  Here in the Deep South and Desert Southwest, we will see more heavy rainfall. Love it or hate it, we can’t do anything to change the weather.  It’s up to us to stay alert and be prepared. That’s this week’s forecast!”
Bentley: “Good job, Paisley.  Before we sign off, let me remind everyone that this is the last day to enter for a chance to win a fabulous collar from Darla Jane’s.  You can click here to enter or fetch your daily free entries. Be sure to join us the rest of the week as we discover a new line of treats from the awesome Chewy.com, our newest arsenal against my fear of thunder and fireworks, and the incredible Whistle.  You won’t want to miss a single day! From your team at BFTB NEWS, have a great day and don’t forget to grab yourself some happy!”

  4. 4-paws up to Merrick! That's the best story I'll hear all week, I'm sure of it. Stella & Chewy's was a bit scary but they're a good company and got it under control. A Blogville meetup! That sounds like fun!

  5. Nice news guys. I wonder how many hotdogs you could put away, Bentley? I like to eat real slow, so I would never win such a contest. Is the Blogville meet up idea real or virtual...Bailie wants to attend a real event. She can't get enough of PR work.
