Do You Know How to Whistle?

Do you know how to whistle? If you think I mean to how pucker up and blow, you’re way off base. Whistle is a waterproof Activity Monitor for your dog. It is one of the coolest dog products that I have seen in some time.
What exactly is a Whistle?
It is a lightweight device that attaches on any collar to track your dog’s daily activity and long-term health trends through an app on your phone. As soon as you open the app you can see where you are on the day’s activity goal.  You can learn when your dog is most active along with the type of exercise it’s getting. Think of it as a FitBit® for dogs. To charge the device, it plugs into your computer. You receive a message when it needs to be recharged, but mine lasts about 10 days.

What does it monitor?
The Whistle can monitor the time your dog spends walking, running, playing, swimming, and resting each day. You will see the timeline of the day and receive a weekly summary. Once you have set up your dog’s profile, you can monitor trends to compare their activity to other dogs of the same breed, age, and weight. You have the ability to set a custom goal for your dog. If other family members take care of your pet, simply add them to the app and you can see when they are interacting.  If your child is supposed to walk the dog, you can check to see if they did!

The Medication and Health Tracking is such a great thing to have at your fingertips. There is no reason to ever forget a dose of medicine or wonder if you have already given the daily dosage. You are able to track when your dog takes its medicine. It even allows you to set reminders for ongoing treatments and vaccinations.
There is a Food icon to keep track of your dog’s food and treats. If you are trying to help them lose weight, this is so helpful.
Once you join the Whistle Community, it is like having a dog park in your pocket. The ability to share photos, notes, and tips with fellow ‘Whistlers’ gives you the opportunity to meet and enjoy or celebrate moments together.

How does it work?
Whistle works by using your phone’s Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi to sync data with the cloud. The device sends data to the app once an hour. To sync, press the button on the Whistle one time when you are in range of either a paired phone or a saved Wi-Fi network. *If you have a problem with this step, the support service is fantastic! The device attaches to your dog’s collar and monitors their activity 24/7.

My Experience
I love being able to see how much exercise Bentley is getting every day. Working from home, it's important that we get out and move our bodies. It is as important to my health as it is his. Setting a goal and striving hard each day to meet it is a great motivator. I love our Whistle and it helps us keep track of our progress. Like I said at the beginning, it is one of the coolest pet devices that I have seen.

  17. I preordered their new tracker that is supposed to track GPS, too, but it seems like it's never going to be released. We have a Tagg tracker, but honestly I am not in love with it. I know they are now owned by the same company, but the Tagg is HUGE and it looks like a growth on the side of her neck. It also doesn't work well on most Greyhound collars, and I've been hesitant about this one because I'm afraid of having the same problem. I love the idea behind it, and I'm hoping one day we'll get to try it out.

  18. This is so cool! I love my Jawbone Up for tracking my own activity and I would love to be able to do it for the dogs too. Especially Luke, who I worry isn't getting enough exercise.
