BFTB NETWoof News August 10 2015

Bentley: “Welcome to BFTB NETWoof News. It is hard to believe that another week has flown past. We have dug up some of the most interesting reports to share with you. I’m joined as always by my trusty co-anchor, Pierre and our Weather Lab, Paisley. What’s our top story this week, Pierre?”
BFTB NETWoof News Top Story

Pierre: “Hello everyone. Our top story is one to put a smile on your face. A runaway 80 lb. tortoise named Zulu was found and returned to its home after four hours on the crawl. Neighbors in Miramar, Florida spotted the escapee and called the police. After his capture, police posted his photos on social media and his frantic owner contacted them. Zulu has refused comment.”
Bentley: “I’ve heard that some of those dudes can beat a hare in a footrace. They are lucky to have caught it. The police sure do get some unusual calls and we appreciate all they do for their communities. Sadly, we are mourning the senseless murder of one of our city’s finest. It was a remarkable sight to see this state’s residents line the north-south interstate to pay their last respects to fallen Officer Thomas LaValley. Police have gotten a bad rap lately. I think sometimes folks forget the incredible risk officers take each day that they put their uniform on to serve and protect us. That goes for their K9 officers too. A copper statue honoring police dogs killed in the line of duty was recently added to western Pennsylvania’s law enforcement memorial. We appreciate our police officers and their K9 partners.”
Pierre: “I couldn’t have said it better. Here is another story that makes us appreciative. The city of Phoenix, Arizona upheld a 2013 ordinance stating that all dogs and cats sold from local pet stores must be rescues. Hopefully, that will help curtail the evil business of puppy mills. It would be awesome if this was made a national law.”
Bentley: “This next story is one of those head-shakers. A family had a beautiful Golden Retriever named Paris that they trained to be a service dog. That was ten years ago and they’d often wondered how she was doing. They found out when a phone call came advising them that Paris was rounded up along with 72 other animals in a hoarding situation. They were reunited because of her microchip. I’m telling you, it is so important that everyone gets a chip on their shoulder! Sorry, I just love saying it like that!”
BFTB NETWoof News celebrates Sugar's birthday

Pierre: “I never get tired of that joke. On a happy note, we want to wish a super happy birthday to two of our favorite dogs. Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang are celebrating Snoopy on his big day. I’m not sure how old he is, but he is definitely older than our good friend, Sugar the Golden Retriever. She is celebrating her 14th birthday today with a Smile Blog Hop. We are giving our best news anchor smiles for her. Over the weekend, our California Golden Girl tried her paw at surfing lessons! We wish her a fantastic day and many more years in the sun.”
Bentley: “Age is just a number and both of these amazing dogs bring smiles to everyone. I could have used a dip in the water myself this weekend. There is only one word to describe our weather and that is hot! Paisley, is there any relief in sight?”
BFTB NETWoof Weather with Paisley

Paisley: “Hiya guys! Is it hot enough for y’all? It would be great to have a little bit of that rain that we were so tired of a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, it won’t be happening here on the bayou. Our actual temperatures will reach 106° and a heat advisory has been issued for much of the south. Most of the rain will be falling from Kentucky up through Maine. Of course, our friends in Florida are still experiencing thunderstorms. We are sending our thoughts to those in the west that are still battling those nasty wildfires. Hopefully, a few pop-up showers will help alleviate some of the scorching heat. Can I wish Sugar a happy birthday too? Is there any cake and ice cream? It’s not really a party without cake and ice cream, ya know.”
Pierre: “You make an important point there, Paisley. I think today definitely calls for some frozen refreshments! Bentley, let’s finish the broadcast and go hit up the peeps for a cold treat.”
Bentley: “That sounds like a plan. I hope all of our readers join us throughout the week for some great new reviews, a cool new website you will love, and more laughs. In the meantime, stay safe and be sure to grab yourself some happy!”

  6. I find turtles scary! I'm glad the guy didn't wind up near me! Happy birthday to my hero, Snoopy, and my friend, Sugar! No worries about me, I've got two chips on my shoulder, one US, and one European. Evidently, most US readers can't read European chips.
