BFTB NETWoof News August 17, 2015

Bentley: “Greetings everyone and welcome to another week of good news from BFTB NETWoof News. Joining me at the anchor desk is the ever fluffy Pierre and our Weather Lab Paisley. We have truly sniffed out some fun stories today, so sit back, grab something to drink, and enjoy our report.”
Top Story for BFTB NETWoof News

Pierre: “Well, our Top Story is one of the happiest we’ve been able to share in some time. Many of you are aware that Saturday, August 15th was #ClearTheShelter Day. Many incredible sponsors led by NBC and Telemundo Television stations, Overstocked.com, and the ASPCA joined with over 400 shelters to offer free or reduced cost adoptions. At press time, over 17,800 pets have been adopted and 20 shelters completely adopted out of all their pets. That is the type story that gets my tail thumping. Every pet deserves a forever home.”
Bentley: “This next story celebrates a cat that takes the term forever home to heart. A Maine Coon named Corduroy has reclaimed the title of the “Oldest Living Cat” at the age of 26 years. Crediting the longevity to sharp cheddar cheese and mice, this feline roams its 160-acre ranch in Oregon. That sounds like a purr-fect life.  Hee-hee! Did you see what I did there? Who says the news can’t be both informative and fun?”
Pierre: “Certainly not me. I love fun and I’m not sure if you caught the list of Friendliest Dogs, but yours truly is ranked at number 13. Don’t I just personify friendly?”
Bentley: “I notice that somehow you were ranked one place above me. The Basset Hound is number 14. I am sure that the ranking was done first thing in the morning and you know we are not at our best before a good breakfast. It comes as no surprise that the number one spot goes to the Labrador Retriever. I have to admit our Paisley is one of the friendliest pups that we know.”
Paisley: “Aww, thanks you guys. Did either of you read about the newest AKC title? It is the Urban Canine Good Citizen and gives credit to all of the dogs that live in the city. The test consists of going in and out of buildings, elevators, and vehicles. They must also be able to handle people walking toward them, face distractions like bikes and walk on various surfaces. It’s really a cool thing for a city dog to strive to accomplish.”
BFTB NETWoof News Sports

Pierre: “Speaking of accomplishments, our friend, Rocco from To Dog with Love is our Sports Highlight Athlete this week. He and his human competed in the Havanese National Specialty in agility and rocked the course. Rocco ran and wove his way to a blue ribbon with style and grace. He earned his first place and had a qualifying score on the Excellent Standard agility course. I don’t like to brag, but I met Rocco in Nashville and he is one awesome dude. We send our congratulations to them.
Bentley: “Paisley, is the weather going to be blue ribbon material this week?
Weather Forecast for BFTB NETWoof News

Paisley: “I want to start by asking for positive thoughts for our friends at the Idaho Pug Ranch. Their human siblings are fighting some wildfires and that is never a good thing. I don’t see any relief in the form of rainfall any time soon for that area of the country. The heat will continue for the west coast this week too. Severe weather is likely for the middle and northern states while the east coast will be hot and muggy with an occasional pop-up storm. The south should brace for some storms midweek and we are crossing our paws for some wet stuff here on the bayou. Bentley?”
Bentley: “Thank you, Paisley. We hope that you enjoyed our report and howl about it with your friends. Don’t miss this week’s reviews and some interesting stories. You can always add us to your e-mail by adding your email address in the upper right box labeled, Fetch My Blog in Your Email. From the BFTB NETWoof News Team, have a fabulous week and be sure to grab yourself some happy.”

  11. I'm so excited about the resounding success of the #ClearTheShelter campaign! For any shelter to adopt out all their animals and clear their kennels is unbelievable - that almost never happens! Such great news. My dog has the AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate but we don't have the Urban Canine Good Citizen, that's a new one on us. What a great idea. Elevators, crowds, and revolving doors can be so scary for pets! It took awhile for us to get past the elevator ride; not having solid ground is apparently unsettling for a lot of Huskies! Thanks for sharing all the news that's fit to post!

  14. First of all, thanks for the Urban Canine Good Citizen news. I have my CGC, and I bet I could easily get my UCGC as I do all that stuff already! Second, the friendly dog thing is obviously flawed. Bailie insists she holds the friendliest dog spot and she is no lab! Maybe rare breed dogs don't count?
