BFTB NETWoof News November 23, 2015 #DogNews

Bentley: “Hello and welcome to BFTB NETWoof News for the week of November 23rd. It has been another exciting few days since we last reported. I know that many of you will be traveling for the Thanksgiving holidays so our Weather Lab Paisley will give you her forecast. Pierre and I have some feel-good stories to start your week with a smile. What’s our top story?”

Pierre: “This first story is a nice gesture in the wake of the tragedy in Paris. As many of you may know, Diesel, a French Police K-9 was mortally wounded in an anti-terror raid last week. It was heartbreaking, but the Russian government has stepped up to offer a German Shepherd puppy to express their solidarity with France. We think what the world needs now is more friendship among countries and this is a terrific beginning.”
Bentley: “As Mom writes in The Returns, ‘The world would be a nicer place if everyone had the ability to love as unconditionally as a dog.’ That goes for countries too. Speaking of Mom, do you think that I look like her? According to some recent scientific research, humans choose dogs that resemble themselves or their family members. Psychologists believe it could be similar to the way humans choose their mates. Michael Roy from the University of California, San Diego was the first to test the idea. He photographed humans and their dogs separately at three different dog parks. He then asked a group of people to match them up. They were able to put the dog and human together with reasonable accuracy. This test has been repeated many times with the same outcome, but it only works with purebred dogs. I dunno, but I think we have the same eyes and she is getting some wrinkles. Bahaha!”
BFTB NETWoof News story of cucumbers and cats
Pierre: “You’d better hope that she doesn’t read that or I’ll be getting all of the treats today! This next story isn’t a feel good story, but I feel that we must mention it. There is a new video craze that has hit the internet and it is not funny at all. People are placing a cucumber behind their cat while it’s eating. They get a big laugh when the poor cat turns and jumps in terror. Seriously, how cruel can humans get? These people live with the cats and supposedly love them. Why would you do that to someone that you love? It can cause the cats to become fearful of their food bowls or more importantly afraid of their people. We are asking that you don’t share or like these mean videos.”
Bentley: “I know personally that I don’t like to be scared. Mom touched me one time while I was asleep and I nearly jumped out of my fur! She apologized the rest of the night. Please tell anyone that shares these videos that they are not cool.”

Pierre: I think we’d better move on to our sports for the week. There is a new Guinness World Record holder for a skateboarding feat. Otto the English Bulldog was inspired by our friend, Tillman who has left for the Rainbow Bridge. In recognition of World Record Day, Otto won the title of ‘longest human tunnel traveled through by a skateboarding dog.’ Standing with their legs apart, thirty people in Lima, Peru stood in 3’ increments. Otto sailed through them without any assistance.”
Bentley: “I really need to get me a board. It would be a great sport to learn. I wonder if I could find a helmet to fit me.”
Pierre: “Umm…I’m not sure that I should answer that. Oh look, Paisley is ready to report the weather. Will we be giving thanks for this week’s forecast?”
BFTB NETWoof Weather set
Paisley: “Hiya boys! I think that you’d do great at skateboarding, Bentley. You probably don’t even need a helmet. You don’t have far to fall. *snicker  Our weather seems pretty far from fall, though. Notice how I segued that joke right into the weather? The Weather Channel should be asking for me to do a live remote pretty soon. Anyway, it will be cool in the northwest but warm along the California coast. The middle of the country will be cold. Some of our friends already have a pile of snow! It’ll warm up a bit in the northeast with some showers later on in the week. The east coast will be sunny and Florida will see warm temperatures. Here in the south, we will have storms closer to the weekend. I feel confident in forecasting turkey and pies for most of the country on Thursday!”
Bentley: “Great job, Paisley. We would like to wish all of our readers a very Happy Thanksgiving. When we give thanks for all of our blessings this year, you will all be included. Enjoy your holiday and remember those who are less fortunate including the dogs and cats that don’t have a wonderful home with a loving family. If you are traveling, have a safe journey. No matter what your plans are for the week, be sure to grab yourself some happy.
Please be sweet and share our tweet.

  5. Great newscast!!! I don't understand the cucumber-cats videos at all. Why would anyone want to scare the furs off their pet?!? So cruel. And hey...it is cool here today, in the 60s and NO humidity. How's the weather on the Bayou?

  7. That Russian dog. So sad. They give so much, all the working dogs, and I am happy that people acknowledge their service too. And Otto, I saw a video. So cute and really quite amazing!!

  9. Another great news report. We agree - how cruel to scare your pet. Mom has to be careful with Bailey too, cause he sleeps real deep. Mom has scared him a time or two when she goes to pick him up to take him to bed and then she feels bad

  12. I think your mom and my mom both have ears similar to ours, just not as hairy, don't you agree? My mom is short too, like me. We are hoping for snow here the end of the week! Have a great Thanksgiving week!

  13. If I had a cucumber handy I might be tempted to try it on Nestle because 1) I doubt I could sneak up in her without her noticing and 2) I don't think it would scare her. She lives with three big dogs after all. lol Have a nice Thanksgiving.

  16. I'm not sure that my dogs and I resemble each other, but I wonder if there is a study about a similarity of the personalities of dogs and their people? Let's see Tim is a control freak - check. And Hank is ADHD and OCD - double check!

  17. It was very nice of Russia to gift that dog. Heaven knows Russia could use sime good PR these days! As for the scared cat videos, what is wrong with people??? Rita is afraid of many things and I would ever scare her intentionally!
