BFTB NETWoof News November 9 2015 #DogNews

Bentley: “Welcome to BFTB NETWoof News for November 9, 2015. I am Bentley and joining me as they do every week are my co-anchor Pierre and our Weather Lab, Paisley. We have some fun dog news to start your week off with a smile. Let’s get right to our top story.”
BFTB News set with the Hambone Award top story

Pierre: “This week’s top story begins with a warning; do not try this at home. Curtis, a 5-year-old Boxer was awarded the 7th annual Hambone Award. He beat out 11 other pets in online voting for the ham trophy named in honor of a dog that ate an entire ham while waiting to be rescued from a refrigerator. Curtis ate a skewer during a party and was taken to the vet, but they weren’t able to find it. Fast forward a few months and he returned with a baseball-sized mass between his stomach and pancreas. During the operation, the vets found the skewer. For their awesome treatment of Curtis, the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine will receive a $10,000 award to treat pets whose owners can’t afford treatment.”
Bentley: “Great award but still not one that I’d enjoy winning! This next story is why Mom never lets us outside our fence without a leash. Woody, a Brittany Spaniel and his buddy Brock, a Chocolate Lab were out walking in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest in Washington when they suddenly bolted from their human, Dennis. He thinks the two caught a whiff of something and took off into the forest searching of its source. He spent the rest of the day searching and calling his two dogs. When it became dark, he went home and turned to social media. After posting photos and the area where the two were last seen, hikers and others searched daily to no avail. After a week, a hiker posted a photo of a wet Spaniel that he’d found. The post was shared thousands of times and eventually made its way to Dennis. Sure enough, it was Woody. Not long after they were reunited, another hiker posted a dog that he’d discovered lost in the forest. You guessed it that dog turned out to be Brock! That just goes to prove that the power of social media can be used for good.”
Pierre: “I don’t think those two will be off-leash anytime soon. I’d hate to be lost in the forest. I’ve read too many fairy tales about wolves dressed like grandmas and cookie houses with witches for me to feel safe! Speaking of safe, our last story is about a kitty that is safe all thanks to a guard dog. A few weeks ago, a Kelpie-mix dog known for killing squirrels, rats, and other vermin came up with something in its mouth. Their people discovered that it was a tiny kitten. They set it back over their fence thinking the mama cat would come back looking for it. The next day, there was no sight of the mama and the little kitty was mewing. They brought it home and began bottle feeding it. Chaos, the dog that originally discovered it sat guard by the kitten’s box and wouldn’t let the other dog get near. After a while, the kitten now named Jake opened its eyes and began to explore. Chaos decided to let the other dog help with raising little Jake. Both dogs now bath and snuggle with their ‘baby’. That is one kitten that never has to worry about its safety. It has two body guards!
BFTB NETWoof sports with the Liver Killers team
Bentley: “That is a great way to end the news report. Now for our sports, we are excited about the Liver Killers team. You know them better as Cello, Hooch, and Lager. They are heading for the Dock Diving Nationals this week. We hope they have a fabulous time and do great in the competition. It is so cool that all three of them were invited. The BFTB news team hopes they have a high-flying fun time!”
Paisley: “I know that my Hooch will be amazing. *swoon* I wish that I could go cheer for him and the rest of the team. Hopefully, he will let me know how he does. He is so dreamy.”
Pierre: “I’m sure that we will hear from them and we can report their experience next week. How are we looking as far as the weather goes this week?”
BFTB NETWoof weather with Paisley the Lab
Paisley: “It’s going to be a hodgepodge of weather across the nation. The northwest will see showers, but the west coast will be nice. Some of the northern states will see snowfall. It might even feel like winter in the middle of the country as it turns colder. Here in the south, we can expect more storms by midweek. Over on the east coast, it will be muggy. Up in the northeast, they will be receiving midweek storms too. Basically, you’ll need a raincoat, a warm coat, or no coat. I just hope that whatever your weather, you have a super great week.”
Bentley: “Thanks, Paisley and thanks to all of you for visiting us for our weekly news report. Be sure to drop by every day for more fun. We will be sharing some new products, great stories and on Wednesday, we honor our veterans. Enjoy each day and be sure to grab yourself some happy.”

  8. The fridge and skewer stories remind me of my old lab, Tyson who TWICE took about half of a roasted chicken off the counter and ate the whole thing. Fortunately everything came out all right and no vet visit was necessary. We started keeping anything that was not ready to go in the refrigerator inside the microwave to avoid a third time.
