Bentley: “Hello and welcome to this week’s BFTB NETWoof News. I’m your ace news reporter Bentley and joining me at the anchor desk are Pierre Westie and our Weather Lab Paisley. We have fetched this week’s dog news so there’s no need for you to dig it up. Pierre, what is our Top Story?”
Pierre: “Delta airlines announced that they will no longer accept animals as checked baggage on their flights. That means if you want to fly with your dog or cat after March 1, 2016, they will have to fit in an under-seat carrier. If not, they have to ship as cargo and Delta can’t guarantee that you’ll even be on the same flight. In this reporter’s opinion, no animals should be shipped as cargo unless it is absolutely necessary. This past September, United States airlines reported the deaths of 4 pets and injuries to 5 while they were being transported. They take no responsibility stating the animals were sick and injured themselves chewing their bowls or cages.”
Bentley: “I hate to be a naysayer, but this is only going to result in more people making bogus claims that their pets are service animals. It is a major problem and affecting those with a legitimate need for their service dog to travel with them. They need to make an airline just for people to travel with their pets. Who should we contact to make that happen?”
Pierre: “I’ll do some investigating. I know that Pilots ‘N Paws transport pets from kill shelters to safe rescue facilities. A regular airline that lets pets fly in the cabin is definitely an unmet need.”
Bentley: “Speaking of needs, have you written your Christmas list? Obviously, a lot of pets have because it is estimated that humans will spend 5 billion dollars on their pets this holiday season. That is an average of $30 per pet. I’m afraid that my list may have exceeded that amount. Let me look…oh yes sirree, I’m way over budget. It’s a good thing that I’ll be on the “Nice List.”
Pierre: “I have asked for a PrideBites hoodie with my name on it. Hopefully, Santa will order it before Wednesday, December 9th. That’s the last day to ensure customized delivery before Christmas. Of course, anyone can use our PrideBites’ PAWtner code MKCLINTON and save a whopping 20% off their order. People can still order after that day if they don’t need their gifts customized or if they’re ordering any of the regular fun toys.
Bentley: We do have some activities happening in Blogville. The annual Christmas card exchange has Pierre and me with 15 cards so far. Sadly, Mom and Dad have zero, zip, zilch, nada. *Snicker* Mayors Murphy and Stanley are joining with Dory for Holiday Hijinks. It sounds like a great time. You can get the details by clicking their names."
Pierre: "Barking from the Bayou is joining our friend Sugar the Golden Retriever along with the aforementioned Mayors, Dory, and Oz the Terrier for a Pawlidays Blog Hop on December 24-26th. We will have more information later.
Paisley: “I am so excited about Christmas. I missed last year’s celebration because I was tiny and didn’t live with my folks yet. This year, Santa will know where I am and bring me toys. The weather will be ideal for visiting Santa or Christmas shopping in most areas. The northeast could see rain and snow and the northern states will see a cool down. The northwest will be cold while the rest of the east coast down to Florida could see scattered showers. The center of the country will be mild and sunny. Joining in that unseasonably warm forecast are the southern and eastern states. I hope everyone is getting in the holiday spirit even if it doesn’t feel like Christmas.”
Bentley: “Thanks for another stellar forecast, Paisley. We have our Christmas tree decorated so it is beginning to look like Christmas. On behalf of the BFTB news crew, thank you for visiting today. Please make us a daily stop! We will do our best to provide you with a smile. Have a terrific week and be sure to grab yourself some happy.”
