The Pros and Cons of a Second Dog

The decision to add to your family is very serious. I’m often asked if I think it is better to have two dogs. Frankly, there are pros and cons to having two or more dogs. Here's a short list to help you.

Snow Freaky

*This is an account of some weird happenings as told by Bentley.
The calendar may show autumn is only a few days away, but the thermometer still says summertime heat here on the bayou. That is the reason what happened this week was so weird or should I say, Snow Freaky?
We were cruising down the interstate when we decided to take a stop and stretch our legs. There was a huge Louisiana statue that looked like a great photo op. As we piled out of the car to pose for a most excellent shot, we heard someone holler. Being a dog, I insisted that we find out if we could lend a paw to help. Pierre began doing a search of the area while I tried to pick up a scent. I put my nose to the ground and was shocked find a trail of ice.

The Scary "C" Word #ThePucciniFoundation

There is one word that nobody ever wants to hear from their doctor or their vet.
CANCER
It strikes fear in the heart of everyone and with good cause. I have been fortunate that none of my pets has suffered from the disease. The same cannot be said for my human friends and relatives. Most of us know someone that has been given the diagnosis of cancer. Due to incredible advances in medicine, a number of cancers are no longer considered a death sentence when detected early. That was not always the case.

What Goes in a Pet First Aid Kit?

We were recently fortunate to win an ER Pet First Aid kit from our friends at Bocci’s Beefs and the A.S.P.C.A.  I couldn’t be happier because it allows me to keep everything needed for an emergency in one convenient kit. We also received an emergency blanket. Both of these will be in our car before we leave on any excursion. No one ever expects an accident, but everyone should be prepared for one to happen.

10 Signs You Are a Football Fanatic

GEAUX means GO at LSU!
Here on the bayou, we love this time of year. It is not the cooler weather, it is not the pumpkin spiced everything, and it is not the upcoming holiday season. It is the kick-off of college football or more importantly, the kick-off of
L.S.U. Tigers football

Does Your Dog Think That You Stink?

Let me begin by saying this post has been 383 days in the making. Actually, it has been a 40+ year journey to get to August 17, 2014. What is so important about that date? It is the day that I smoked my last cigarette. I know it would be great for me to say that I hated smoking and had wanted to quit for years. That is just not the case. I enjoyed smoking; I only tried to quit a couple of times through my decades of this deadly addiction. Those of you that have never smoked are probably rolling your eyes or saying, “Ewww, nasty!” Believe me, I understand.

I began smoking as a very young teen in the 70’s. It was cool, I was cool…you get the picture. Of course, back in the day a pack of cigarettes was less than $1.00. Today, that same pack will cost you $5.00 or more depending on where you live. The cost was not why I kicked the habit. Although, it would be nice to buy a Colorado getaway with the cash that I have let go up in smoke!
