BFTB NETWoof News April 11, 2016 #DogNews

Bentley: “Hello, I’m Bentley and this is BFTB NETWoof News for the week of April 11, 2016. Joining me at the anchor desk is Pierre Westie and Paisley, the best Weather Lab on the Bayou. We fetch the good dog and animal stories to put a smile in your day. Let’s turn to Pierre for our top story.”
BFTB NETWoof Dog News with Fireman and dog
Pierre: “Firefighters rescued a dog that had fallen 50 feet into an abandoned clay mine. A hiker called 9-1-1 to report the pup around the Chatfield Reservoir in Colorado. The fire department stated that dog rescues from the mines are not uncommon. Just an idea, maybe they should cap those mines so nobody can fall into them. What do you think, Bentley?”
Bentley: “It makes sense to me. This next story concerns a dog and the fire department too. This time, the family’s Labrador was actually the culprit in the blaze. His humans had left some barbecue on the stove and the dog decided it was hungry. The Austin, Texas fire department believes the dog accidentally turned the stove on trying to get the food. According to the A.F.D, the Lab has done something similar in the past. As a side note, never leave barbecue out where it tempts your dog.”
Pierre: “A yellow Lab named Feather is also in the news, but not for starting fires. Feather is a hunting retriever champion in spite of having only three legs. She was training as a younger dog and was bitten by a water moccasin as she exited a water drill. Her leg had to be amputated, but it hasn’t slowed her down one bit. She is quite an inspiration to everyone.

Bentley: “Our last story today is also inspiring. A Dachshund is making news after losing half of his body weight. Dubbed, Fat Vincent the 7–year-old dog was tipping the scales at 38 pounds. He had recently been surrendered to a county shelter after his person died. His foster mother, Melissa Anderson began with giving him swimming exercises so he wouldn’t injure himself. Now, after eight months, Vincent is weighing in at 17 pounds and is walking an hour six times a week. Way to be awesome, Vincent. How is weather looking for the week, Paisley?”
Paisley: “It is going to be another wet one, guys. The south will have scattered showers and possibly a few severe storms during the first part of the week. Our friends along the west coast will have clouds and some midweek rain will fall from San Francisco to Seattle and Billings, Montana. It will be breezy through the center of the country and that will bring late-week storms to the east coast. The northeast will see some clearing midweek. What can I say, it is spring. Rain happens.”
Bentley: “Without rain, we wouldn’t have flowers, right? We want to congratulate Tiffany Hughes for winning our PrideBites gift card. We still have two fabulous contests going on right now. You can win a Vita Bone gift basket and our two favorite leash attachments, The Fifth Paw and Sooty Paw Paw bags. Thanks for visiting us today. Be sure to tell your friends that for the best news around, trust a hound! Be sure to grab yourself some happy.”

  9. We love stories about tri-paws, dogs with only three legs. They don't understand that anything is wrong with them and they just go about the business of being a dog. We can all learn a lot from them.

  11. We dot live all that far from Chatfield Reservoir and are surprised we hadn't heard about the poor pup that fell into the mine. Yikes! All the more reason for pups to be leashed in areas like that. As always, thanks for sharing the news, especially about sweet Vincent. Paws crossed he continues to make progress! Have a happy week. ღ
