Putting Petnostics to the Test

Have you ever taken your dog or cat to the vet because they just weren’t acting right? It is always a good idea to err on the side of caution but sometimes that can be expensive. Wouldn’t it be awesome to be able to check for problems without a big vet bill? That is the genius behind Petnostics.

Pet Parents Say the Darnedest Things

As pet parents, we occasionally say things that only other pet parents can understand. Everyone else thinks we are a little strange.
Have you ever found yourself saying these things?

1. “I was talking to the dog.”
This conversation happens several times each day between me and my husband. Question: “What did you say?” Response: “Nothing, I was talking to the dog.”

Dr. Harvey's Healing Cream Makes Miracles Happen

Dr. Harvey's ambassador disclaimer

I have been howling the praises of Dr. Harvey’s Healing Cream to everyone that will listen for a long time. The reason that I am so passionate about spreading the word is that I have seen the results from using it. Like all pet parents we do our best to keep either of the boys from injuring themselves and like all boys, they still find a way to get scrapes and boo boos. The moment that I see any type of irritation on Bentley or Pierre, I break out my handy jar of Healing Cream and let the miracles occur. Do you remember this story from the BlogPaws® 2015 conference?

What Makes It So Special
I love this all-purpose first-aid ointment for so many reasons. It is made with all natural organic ingredients in a base of Shea Butter. It is not greasy and a little dab will do ya!
The list of ingredients sounds soothing.

May Is National Microchip Your Pet Month

Me: “May has been declared National Chip Your Pet month. I thought it would be a great time to remind our readers about the importance of having their pet microchipped.”

Why You Should Enter Blog Contests

I love to win! Anybody that tells you they don’t is not being honest. It is a rush to me whether it is winning a game, a lottery scratch-off #FreeTicket, or a contest. The fact that I am by my very nature super competitive does not hurt my desire to win. It wasn’t long after I began Barking from the Bayou in December of 2013 that I discovered blog contests. Since that time I have won countless giveaways and contests.
Why you should enter blog contests
1. Bloggers need you
Most contests are sponsored by a company that wants exposure. They are either investing money and /or product to the host blogger. If the contest only garners a few entries, it does not reflect well on the blog. It is a business advertising expense and they want results.

Fetch Year-Round Parasite Protection with #SentinelSpectrum

Two boxes of Sentinel Spectrum
This post is sponsored by Virbac® Sentinel® Spectrum® and the BlogPaws® Pet Influencer Network™. I am being compensated to help create awareness about protection against common parasites found in dogs but we only share information we feel is relevant to our readers. More information about Sentinel Spectrum. Virbac is not responsible for the content of this article.
Do you use a heartworm preventative year-round? Many pet parents feel that it is only necessary to treat for heartworms during mosquito season. That can be a big mistake. The medications target the stages of a developing heartworm for the first 3-4 months after a bite. Then, there is a time when nothing can be done until the worm becomes an adult after around 6 months post-bite. Heartworms can live approximately 5 to 7 years in a dog, if the dog survives that long. It is so important not to ever skip a dose of heartworm preventative. Here’s the great news; preventing heartworms is easy thanks to Virbac® SENTINEL® SPECTRUM®. My dogs think the tasty new beef-flavored chew that I give them every 30 days is a treat before dinner!

Dr. Harvey's Fabulous Fish Oracle

Dr. Harvey's Oracle Grain-Free Freeze-Dried Fish Formula
There is something new and exciting happening at Dr. Harvey’s! They have introduced a new Oracle Freeze-Dried Complete Diet for dogs and it is fabulous. Due to the success of their Oracle line of food, they have been able to make a major price reduction. I am talking about 25% less for all of the Oracle formulas. That is a permanent price change too! It's awesome news for those of us with multiple pets or big eaters.

In Flagology We Trust

If there is one thing we do here on the Bayou, it is fly our flags. Our neighborhood is a mixture of homes flying Old Glory, their favorite sports teams, or fun seasonal flags. You can tell a lot about a family by their flag. When people pass by our home, there is no doubt that we are big L.S.U. fans. We wave the purple and gold throughout the year. The problem is we live where there are a lot of Tiger fans. Nobody wants to have the same flag as their neighbor.
"Which one do you suggest, Bentley?"

Chewy.com Influencer Disclaimer

Bentley: “The other day we were sitting in the office minding our own business when there was a knock on the door. As usual, Pierre lost his mind barking. I pushed him outta the way politely asked him to remain calm while I investigated.”
Pierre: “Dude, how was I supposed to know that it was our good friend Chewy with a special delivery? We need a dog-level peephole to avoid such embarrassing encounters.”
Bentley: “It was okay, Chewy thought it was funny. He makes deliveries every day and is used to those types of greetings. Chewy.com is all about understanding pets and what makes them happy.”

Not at Home on the Range

Bentley and Pierre recently discovered some Scottish Highland cows so they decided to try their paws at a round-up. Don’t worry; all the cattle dogs’ jobs are safe! The boys didn’t quite grasp the concept of herding. They are not at home on the range!

Pet Blogging Is Not Supposed to Hurt

When I began writing and then blogging, I felt pretty confident that being a pet blogger was the happiest job on earth. I mean, who doesn’t love dogs and cats? It turns out that unlike baseball, there IS crying in blogging. Good bloggers have the ability to make you feel as if you know their pets. You are friends and you keep up with each other’s lives. When something great happens, you rejoice and when something bad happens, you weep. This past month has been really hard for a lot of us. We have lost some great four-legged friends. Pet blogging is not supposed to hurt this bad.

Tripawds ~ Living Life on 3 Paws

Tri paw German Shepherd dog
All photos were provided by Tripawds.com
Do you know a dog or cat that is living life on 3 paws? It is not as unusual as you might think. You can read Skippy’s Story to meet a great little dog that is living large as a tri. I can’t imagine how devastating the decision to amputate a limb on a beloved pet must be for someone. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have someone to talk to at a time like that? You’d need a person that has been down that long road to answer your questions and calm some of your fears.

Skippy ~ Loving Life on 3 Legs

I want to introduce you to one amazing little fellow. Skippy is proof that a dog can live and love their life on three legs. Jane adopted Skippy after he began hanging around her neighborhood. He was small and missing his front leg, but a happier pup would be hard to find. After Jane’s attempts to locate the dog’s owner failed, Skippy found himself living the good life with his new mom and her two other rescues, Dixie and Koko.

A Wonderful Life

Earthbath for Totally Natural Pet Care

I’m not sure how the weather has been where you live, but it has rained over 26” here on the bayou since March 1st. That means a lot of mud puddles for Bentley and Pierre to run through. Since they live inside and share our couches and bed, it also means a lot of baths. If I bathed them each time they got in the mud, we’d be bathing every single day! What I needed was a quick and easy way to keep them fresh and clean. Luckily, I found the perfect solution.
earthbath Totally Natural Pet Care Foam Shampoo, grooming wipes and facial wipes
Earthbath® offers a complete line of all-natural grooming products for cats and dogs. Today, we are reviewing their Waterless Grooming Foam for dogs, Facial Wipes and Grooming Wipes for dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens. This is the perfect combination for me because of the differences in Bentley and Pierre’s coats. Earthbath products are totally natural, non-toxic, and free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates and phosphates. They are made in the U.S.A with human-grade ingredients using pure essential oils and no artificial colors or fragrances.
