BFTB NETWoof News July 25, 2016

Bentley: “Hello and welcome to BFTB NETWoof News for July 25, 2016. I hope that your day is going great. We have some interesting stories along with our U. S. weather forecast. What is our top story, Pierre?”
BFTB NETWoof Dogs News with black cat in hardhat on back screen
Pierre: “Oh, we are going to start right off with a feel good cat report. There is a Home Depot store in South Carolina that has been home to ‘Depot’ the cat for over 13 years. The cat is well-loved and known by the customers. Recently, the store announced that the
cat was going to be forced out because she kept setting off the security alarms during the night. That is when a customer began circulating a petition calling for a reprieve for Depot. It received over 1,500 signatures! The powers that be heard the cries of the people and decided the cat can continue to live at the store. That is what I call a purr-fect ending.”

Bentley: “Wow! That is terrific for Depot. The last thing she needs is to go live in a shelter after 13 years in one place. Speaking of shelters; did any of you participate in the 2nd annual Clear the Shelter campaign over the weekend? First reports indicate that it was a howling success! More than 680 animal shelters across America and Puerto Rico teamed up with 40 local NBC and Telemundo TV stations to urge people to adopt dogs, cats, and exotic pets like iguanas. Shelters offered free or low-cost adoptions and spaying/neutering to help make it easier for families to meet their new best friend. We are proud to announce that over 45,000 pets found their forever homes so far in July. If you are yearning for the pitter patter, pitter patter of four tiny paws, consider visiting a shelter in your area.”

Pierre:  “This next report really is much ado about nothing in this reporter’s opinion. Still, it did make the news and I felt that it needed to be addressed. Excuse me while I rant…England’s adorable Prince George of Cambridge turned 3 years old last week. The palace released some cute photos of him to the public. The one that caused a big stir is the little prince and his dog sharing some ice cream. Seriously? How can people be so sensitive that they want to bash this toddler and his parents? I don’t care if they are the future King and Queen of England! I say let he who has never let their pup lick some ice cream to throw the first bone. For crying out loud! It was a sweet photo of a boy and his dog. All of those that are so incensed need to direct their attention to the thousands of dogs chained to trees or starving on the streets. It was just a little ice cream!
BFTB NETWoof sports with Mabel from Idaho Pug Ranch
Bentley: “Wow, talk about the cone of shame! I know that I’ve licked an ice cream bowl or two in my day and lived to tell about it. Let’s move on to sports. We are giving a big round of applause to our friend Mabel from the Idaho Pug Ranch! She earned her first Rally Novice Qualifying score at her very first Rally Trial on June 18th. That’s not beginner’s luck either. Mabel and her mom are amazing together! They will be attending another trial next month so I’m sure we will be congratulating her again. Thanks to Mabel for sharing her story. A BFTB bandana is in the mail!
BFTB NETWoof weather for July 25 2016
Paisley: “I think Mabel is such a sweetheart. The Pugs are going to be looking for some air conditioning this week as they see temps reaching into the upper 90’s. I hope Mabel, Bailey, and Hazel take extra care in this heatwave. It is going to continue to be blazing hot across the U.S. this week. Some states will get relief in the form of scattered storms including the Gulf coast and the Mid-pacific States. Our friends in the southwest area around Arizona need to be aware of monsoonal storms. As always tune into your local weather for updates in your city. It’s more of the same here on the Bayou, boys. Hot with the air you can wear!”
Bentley: “Whew! I am not looking forward to the dog days of August. Let us know what all of you are doing to stay cool this summer in our comments. On behalf of the BFTB NETWoof News team, I thank you for stopping by today. Don’t miss the rest of our week as we celebrate Lost Pets Prevention month, taste some delicious new treats, share a new product to calm your dog’s anxiety and more some fun photos. Remember if you have a story that we should know about, drop us an email at thereturns7@gmail.com. If we use it on our blog, you will receive a Barking from the Bayou bandana while supplies last. Have a wonderful day and be sure to grab yourself some happy.

  4. Nice work Mabel! I'm disappointed in my British country for chastising the Prince for sharing with his fur sibling. Sometimes I'm happy I left that country!

  5. We also agreed it was an overreaction to the ice cream. Let's focus on some real problems people, like the fact we have never had ice cream!

  6. More smiley face stories to start the week, guys. Woof! Congrats to Mabel and to all those who rescued the 4-legged critters in the Clear the Shelter campaign. Sadly, mom eats all the ice cream before any licks could possibly make it to my mouth. Prince George is one lucky dude in more ways than one.

  13. I was very angry when people said that Prince George shouldn't share his ice cream with the doggie. What if EVERYBODY thought like that?? All us doggies would have our little tongues hanging out for a slurp or a lick or a bite of the good stuff. Yikes.

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  14. I'm glad they're going to let the cat stay. There are so many homeless cats around, it's so disheartening to hear that they were considering removing one that was so beloved by the community. And I was really surprised by the craziness surrounding the dog licking ice cream.

  16. Oh my goodness, I know tons of people who give their dogs ice cream! We let our crew lick our bowls all of the time. I've always thought it's just one of those things you shouldn't do all of the time, but once in a while won't hurt.
We wish our local Home Depot had a cat roaming the aisles - that would be fun! We're so glad Depot gets to stay at what has obviously become his home.
