BFTB NETWoof New September 5, 2016

Bentley: Happy Labor Day and welcome to BFTB NETWoof News. If you have the day off, fetch another cup of coffee and enjoy some good news. My co-anchor, Pierre has our top story.”
BFTB NETWoof News Top Story of Romeo the Golden Retriever
Photo is actually our Tucker, the Golden Retriever
Pierre: “We love a great survivor story and they don’t come any better than Romeo’s. Many of you have heard about the devastating earthquake in Italy and the tragic loss of lives. One family whose home was damaged never gave up searching for Romeo, their Golden Retriever. After 9 long days of searching and calling his name, they heard barking beneath the rubble. Sure enough, they found him and after being pulled out, he took a moment to check his surroundings, began to wag his tail and greeted his humans. Needless to say, the family and rescuers were thrilled.”

BFTB NETWoof News about Malinois dog

Bentley: “Please tell me that the family yelled, ‘Romeo, Romeo, Where for art thou, Romeo?’ because that would be amazing. Dogs seem to be getting into a lot of dangerous situations lately. A couple out on Lake Michigan experienced engine trouble. After working to get it running, they discovered their 10-month-old Belgian Malinois, Rylee was missing. After a quick search of the water, they made a ‘dog overboard’ call and were put in contact with a rescue worker. While the humans were panicking, Rylee had swum over 6 miles back to shore and walked another 12 miles through the woods to a campground. Word of her sighting was reported to the rescue worker and the couple notified. Once they arrived at the campground, they put out some of Rylee’s favorite toys. A few squeaks brought her out of the woods and into her parent’s loving arms.”
BFTB NETWoof News with senior sheep story
Pierre: “I’m so glad that she was okay; that would have been scary! Our next story will really get to ‘ewe’. A senior sheep named Sammie was surrendered when her owner moved across the country. At 9 years old they felt the trip would be too much for her. She has been living for the past 4 years at the Poplar Animal Sanctuary where she has become a sort of a surrogate grandmother to the other animals. She cuddles with sheep that are having a hard time adjusting and shares her wisdom with other animal friends. Okay, I just added the wisdom part but sheep are pretty smart ewe know. Hee hee hee!”
BFTB NETWoof News about cats working in jails
Bentley: “As Americans celebrate Labor Day and the official end of summer, we want to salute some working cats. Charlie and Adra are employed at the Boulder County Jail keeping rabbits and mice out of their organic garden. They patrol the area so there is no need for chemicals. The inmates work and learn to grow food from master gardeners. The cats are special to the inmates and they have formed a bond that helps both the cats and the people to love and trust. I think this program should be implemented in more jails. What about you, Paisley?”
BFTB NETWoof Weather
Paisley: “I think that cats are purr-fectly able to work in prison. Speaking of prisons, our friends in Florida are going to think they have been sentenced to a long stint of rain! Unfortunately, there will be more rain in Florida and along the gulf coast. The east coast from the mid-Atlantic to New England will still be feeling the effects of Hermine. You can expect strong winds and coastal erosion as it makes it way up the coast before veering back over the water around Wednesday. Please stay tuned to your local weather for emergency updates. Did you know September is National Disaster Preparedness month? Get tips and make sure you are ready by visiting this post. We are getting back to the time of year where weather can become weird. If you live in Montana, don’t be surprised to see snow later this week! The southwest and west coast are the places to be if you are looking for some sunshine and nice temperatures. No matter what your weather is, always have a sunny disposition. Back to you, Bentley.”
Bentley: “Thanks for another great forecast, Paisley. We would also like to thank our viewers for stopping by today. Please share our good news with your friends and family. Join us each day this week for a couple of great reviews and some fun tips. If you see news that we need to know about, drop us a link at thereturns7@gmail.com. Until next time, be sure to grab yourself some happy.”

  6. Great stories! The only one we had already seen was Romeo - wasn't it amazing how good and spunky he looked right after being rescued? I think golden retrievers are amazing survivors.
