BFTB NETWoof News October 3, 2016

Bentley: “Hello and welcome to BFTB NETWoof News for the first week of October. Wow! That certainly happened fast, didn’t it? Many of you have asked about Paisley and her big cross country move. I’m happy to report that she and her family arrived safely and are in the process of settling in their new place. Through the power of technology, she is still able to appear on set with us. That makes our tails wag which is very unprofessional so…let’s get right to it Pierre; what is our top story?”
BFTB NETWoof News Top Story
Pierre: “It is another study showing that dogs make humans happy. Scientists believe when people interact with dogs, the hormone oxytocin is released by both species. Oxytocin stimulates social bonding, relaxation, trust, and eases stress. It’s the same feeling babies and their new parents feel without speaking. Dogs do a body good!”
BFTB NETWoof News with pet Halloween costumes

Bentley: “It is one of the awesome things that connect us with our people. We also enjoy holidays with our family and that includes Halloween. Many of the pet costumes are being considered sexist because the ones that are marked male are firefighters and policemen while the female outfits include a pink cowgirl and French maid. Most of our costumes are gender neutral. What are your feelings about this controversy? Please let us know in the comments.”
BFTB NETWoof News on Breed Specific Legislation
Pierre: “Our last story is not a happy news story but one that we feel is necessary to share our feelings about. Montreal has adopted a Breed Specific Law that is one of the harshest that we’ve ever seen. The ban is a knee-jerk reaction, as most of them are, to a horrible attack that left a woman dead. These laws simply don’t work and are usually reversed after they are proven to be ineffective. The problem is that there is no definitive “Pit Bull” breed so this sweeping ban means any dog with a block head must be muzzled if it goes outdoors. Thousands will be put to death and families will lose their beloved family pets because they cannot afford to adhere to the regulations. It is our opinion that Breed Specific Laws are wrong. Irresponsible owners, dog fighting rings, hoarding, and puppy mills are the problem. It is another human crime where the dogs are paying the price.”
Bentley: “Breed Selective Legislation is just wrong. I hope our weather is going to put a smile back on our faces. How about it, Paisley?”
Paisley the Weather Lab in Washington state.
Paisley: “Let me start by thanking everyone for all of your well wishes and love. It means so much to me and my family. We drove for five days to get to my new town but it was worth every single mile. I rode like a champ and discovered that hotels are a lot of fun! We only had to drive in the rain as we went through Dallas so we were happy about that. This week is going to be nice and is beginning to feel like autumn across the land. The Pacific northwest will have some showers this week but it will be nice in California. The southwest will be sunny with temps in the 80’s. Those of you in the south will have some cooler days to get outside and play. Rain will begin in Florida and move up the east coast until reaching the Boston area on Saturday. I do need to mention Hurricane Matthew and warn our friends in Jamaica, Haiti, and Cuba to take the warnings seriously. Please take the necessary precautions and stay tuned to your local weather reports.”
Bentley: “That’s great, Paisley. We miss you but hope to see you again real soon. Thanks to all of you for fetching your news from BFTB NETWoof News. Please share us with your friends and family so they can join in the fun. You can follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram too. On behalf of the news team, have a terrific week and be sure to grab yourself some happy.”

  2. I agree dogs make people happy ! It's sad that the gender-problem-thing knows no limits... once we have to look for the right tree for leaving pee-mails :o((( I'm shocked about this new law, breed is not the problem... the problem often is on the other end of the leash...

  3. So happy Paisley and her family made it to their new home safely! We are fine with gender specific costumes. Mom likes more traditional roles, even though she loves dads who become stay at home dads while moms work, or female police and firefighters. She says who cares what the package says...life it too short to worry about such small things.

  6. Being part of a pet therapy team, I can attest the power of pups and their interactions with humans. We once visited a guy who was very sick and after a few minutes of petting Sam, his blood pressure was almost normal and it had been sky high when we first went into his room.

Thank you for sharing the story about Montreal's boneheaded decision about pit bulls. The more people know about this and raise a ruckus, the better chance of getting that stupidity corrected. Good job, guys! ღ

  7. Great news ! Even if we are cats, we were sad to hear about Montreal's new law : we think that there are no bad dogs, but only bad owners. Purrs

  10. That's really interesting about the Halloween costumes. I never really thought about that, but dogs, like humans, should be able to be what they want. Ruby was a witch last year. Not sure what she will be this year.

  11. Paisley looks so grown up in that photo! We are so glad she and her family arrived safely at their new home.
We don't think they needed to do a study to know that dogs make us humans happy; many of us can attest to that!
Thank you for sharing the BSL story, it is so awful. I hope that writing, talking, and sharing about it can put an end to it.
