Probiotics for Dogs ~What and Why They Work #ChewyInfluencer

Has your veterinarian ever prescribed or recommended a probiotic for your dog? It happened to me when Bentley was having stomach issues that resulted in vomiting and diarrhea. I was not sure what they were but was willing to try anything to make my boy feel better.

What are probiotics?
Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts that are good for your dog, cat or even you. They are excellent for the digestive system. There are billions of these gut-dwelling microbes in the system of all animals. Probiotics are good bacteria that keep the gut healthy. The name probiotics means “for life.”
Why use probiotics?
• Aids in digestion
• Fights off potential pathogens
• Reduces flatulence
• Helps immune system
• Promotes intestinal health & balance
• Makes nutrients and vitamins
Sprinkle FortiFlora directly on your pet's food.
I received a box of Purina® ProPlan® Veterinary Diets FortiFlora to review just in time to help Pierre’s upset stomach. We are on our third day of adding it to his dinner. His runny stools are better and he has had no vomiting. I know many pet parents give their dogs probiotics every day. At this point, I am not sure that I will go that route but I will sprinkle a package on their food at least once a week.
Luckily, Chewy.com sells FortiFlora and for a much lower price than my veterinarian. I can simply order a box of 30 or 180 so that I always have some on hand. It is important to store your probiotics in a cool, dry place and always check your expiration date. FortiFlora is made in the USA. Check with your veterinarian to see if probiotics are right for your dog or cat.

I am so thankful to be a part of the Chewy.com family. Look at the awesome goodies they sent me! Bentley and Pierre couldn’t believe that the famous blue box was not for them! Hee hee hee!

  7. We got the same box from Chewy. I was steamed as a clam that it was for Mom and not me, but I do get to wear the hat and scarf if I want to. I don't see a need for probiotics here right now, but it is good to know about.

  8. We have used Flortifora in the past for both Kobi and Luke when they had issues. I remember it being very pricey coming from our vet's office, so good to know Chewy carries it now too.
I prefer to just use pumpkin or yogurt for regular digestive maintenance though.

  10. With Wally's recent pancreatitis attack, we're learning how beneficial probiotics can be. He was getting Fortiflora to help with the bad diarrhea he had.
