BFTB NETWoof News May 15, 2017

Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and welcome to BFTB NETWoof News for May 15, 2017. We want to wish all of the moms a belated happy Mother’s Day. My co-anchor, Pierre has our top story.”
BFTB NETWoof News reports on woman and dog lost in woods was found safe
Pierre Westie: “A 23-year-old woman and her dog were rescued when their day hike in the heavily wooded Great Bear Wilderness turned into a six-day nightmare. Madeline Connelly and her pup Mogi took a wrong turn and became hopelessly lost near Glacier National Park in Montana. Rescue workers found bear tracks mixed with her footprints and became very concerned for the duo's safety. The two were finally found five miles from their vehicle. They had survived by drinking water from a creek. Thankfully, they are both fine.”
BFTB News shares the importance of microchipping your pets
Bentley: “Can you imagine having to go without dinner or treats for six whole days? Good grief!
This next story is an example of how getting pets microchipped can save a lot of pain. A woman in Austin, Texas is heartbroken after her 1-year-old Black Lab, Mila wandered away from home without a collar. She immediately hung up flyers and posted about her missing dog. Someone found Mila and brought her to a local no-kill shelter. Since the dog had no identification and no microchip, she was put up for adoption after the 72-hour waiting period. Mila’s owner finally tracked her down only to discover that she had been adopted the day before. Sadly, the adoptive family has no desire to return the dog to her original owner. A simple trip to the vet for a microchip would have made all the difference. May is microchip your pet month so don’t put off the easy and painless procedure.”
BFTB NETWoof News with dog on roof
Pierre: “I didn’t even wince when I was microchipped! You can have your pet microchipped for little or no-cost at special events.
You're going to love this story. There is a Golden Retriever named Huckleberry that enjoys spending his days on the roof of his house. Not his dog house, his human’s house! People are always concerned when they drive past and see the dog on the roof. His family wrote a note advising everyone that they were aware Huck was up there and that he is safe. They don’t allow him outside unless they are home but claim he won’t come down unless tempted with food or a ball.
This particular report resonated with us because we used to have a Jack Russell Terrier that lived next door to us who did the same thing. The main difference was our neighbors were out looking for their dog when we had to show them the silly pup was on the roof of their building in the backyard!
BFTB NETWoof News on a horse playing dead
Bentley: The video that accompanies our last story made us howl with laughter. A horse in Texas likes to play dead with his hooves up in the air. Its owner always has to explain to people that the horse is not actually dead. It seems that ‘Pinto’ has become an internet star for his daily death stance. As you can see, he does an Academy Award worthy performance!”
Paisley the Weather Lab forecast for the week of May 15, 2017
Paisley the Weather Lab: “Oh boys, that has to be one of the funniest videos that I’ve ever seen. There is nothing funny about this week’s weather forecast. Most of the northern states will experience showers or storms. The temperature is on the rise in the northeast and all along the eastern coastline. Down in the southern states, it will be hot with a chance of storms in Louisiana and Texas. The southeast and eastern states will be warm and have sunny skies with a slight breeze. If you are in the center of the country, you can expect storms throughout the week. Please stay tuned to your local weather stations for updates and warnings. I hope that everyone has a wonderful week! Back to you in the newsroom, Bentley.”
Bentley: “Thanks for another great forecast. We will keep our raincoats handy just in case.
