BFTB NETWoof News May 8, 2017

Bentley Basset Hound: “Thank you for joining us this week for BFTB NETWoof News. We have fetched some great news for you and my co-anchor Pierre has our top story.”
BFTB NETWoof News reports on bill to outlaw declawing cats in New York
Pierre Westie: “New York cat lovers are excited about a bill that would ban declawing. There are some veterinarians that oppose the legislation. The surgical procedure removes a cat’s toes back to the first knuckle. It is not only painful but puts cats at an extreme disadvantage should they go outdoors. Several European countries, as well as Australia and Britain, have banned declawing. It is also illegal in some California cities. We are keeping our paws crossed that the bill in New York not only passes but is implemented across America.”
BFTB NETWoof News reports on 3-D beak for eagle
Bentley: “There are many new alternatives to declawing. I can’t imagine having my toes cut like that.
This next report shines our spotlight on a very kind medic. She was caring for an eagle that had been shot in the face by a poacher. Her beak was destroyed and experts said that nothing could be done. The medic refused to accept that diagnosis and contacted an engineer to design a 3-D printed beak. They attached a metal mount and worked until the printed beak fit perfectly. Now, the eagle is ready to soar with her new beak thanks to some humans that wouldn’t take no for an answer.”
BFTB NETWoof News gives Three cheers to Torrey & Chanel Smith for paying adoption fees for cats & dogs
Pierre: “While we are reporting on awesome people, let’s give a shout out to Philadelphia Eagles football player Torrey Smith and his wife, Chanel paid the adoption fees of 46 dogs and cats during an adoption event in Baltimore. The couple also made a donation to the shelter. That is a touchdown for pets and we give the Mr & Mrs. Smith three cheers!”
BFTB NETWoof News reports on Be Kind to Animals Week
Bentley: “These were perfect stories to help us kickoff Be Kind to Animals Week. This week has been celebrated since 1915, a year after nearly 10 million horses used in fighting across Europe died in World War I. The American Humane hoped to help educate people and bring awareness to animal welfare. Here on the Bayou, we are hoping for some extra treats and belly rubs.”
BFTB NETWoof Weather with Paisley the Weather Lab
Paisley the Weather Lab: “I am all for extra treats and walks to celebrate! Lucky for me the Pacific Northwest will have some beautiful weather for the first half of the week with no rain predicted until Thursday. It will be mild across the northern states with cool temperatures in the northeast. The middle of the country and the east coast will experience scattered storms later in the week. Down in the south, you can expect warm days with storms also moving in around Thursday. The southwestern states will get their rain early. The west coast will have nice weather to get outside and enjoy.
As I always say, the weather can change quickly this time of year so keep an eye to the sky and an ear to your local weather stations for updates and warnings. Have a wonderful week and remember to be kind to animals!”
Bentley: “If you see a story that we should know about, please email us at thereturns7@gmail.com. We will send you a Barking from the Bayou bandana as our way of saying thanks!
Join us throughout the week for new stories and reviews. It is going to be a great week on the bayou so you won’t want to miss a day. You can have our blog delivered to your email or subscribe to us with Bloglovin’. We’d appreciate you sharing us with your friends and co-workers.
On behalf of the BFTB news team, enjoy your week and be sure to grab yourself some happy.”

  4. Mom always had her cats declawed, it is what everyone did, but then she moved to Europe where it was not allowed. She got cats with claws and found it is real easy to teach them to use a scratching post, and she would never declaw a cat again. They are dangerous if cats try to get dogs, so watch out boys.

  7. Another wooftastic report BFTB!

Declawing is cruel & should be banned everywhere; like you stated, there are pawsome alternatives. My huMom walked away from her fist position as a Vet Tech (many moons ago) because she was asked to participate in this horrible practice. She went on to work at a hospital that refused to declaw or euthanize healthy animals.

Don't you just love humans who can persist despite naysayers! 3 bum swings! 3 more! Fly high beautiful eagle.

Barking good Torrey & Chanel Smith! More humans like you please.

Be kind to animals should be every day. Happy Be Kind to Animal Week!

Thanks for the weather report Paisley; pawfect work.

  8. Yay for Mr. and Mrs. Smith!! What fine and loving folks.
Yep those nail tips in your first photo are supposed to be very effective...and if the nails are trimmed properly the tips can stay on for several months. I of course would get Fire Engine red glossy should I decide to use them.

  20. Here in Nova Scotia, a while back, the veterinarians had a vote on bannin' declawing, themselves. UNFORTUNATELY, they voted not to ban it. I'm thinkin' the government needs to step in and ban it for 'em. MOUSES!
