BFTB NETWoof News June 12, 2017

Bentley Basset Hound: “Welcome to this week in BFTB NETWoof News. We have fetched the best feel-good reports to start your day with a smile. Pierre, what is our top story?”
BFTB NETWoof News top story on German Shepherd pup

Pierre Westie: “This is one that will have you grinning from ear to ear. As we all know, police K-9s are expected to be very intimidating so an adorable German Shepherd puppy named Gavel was dismissed for being too nice. He was supposed to work for the Queensland Police in Brisbane, Eastern Australia but enjoyed belly rubs more than sniffing for explosives. He had met the Gov. Paul de Jersey as a 10-week-old pup and was going to live at the governor’s official residence throughout his training. When the governor learned the dog’s training was canceled for being too friendly, he stepped in to officially adopt Gavel. The pup even signed a contract to become the Vice-Regal dog. Now, instead of chasing criminals, he is welcoming visitors and attending official ceremonies. Sometimes it pays to be too sweet.”
BFTB NETWoof News reports on man running into burning building for dog
Bentley: “It sounds like a much safer job too. Our next report shows the extremes humans will go for their best friends.
A man was arrested for disobeying the firemen when his apartment caught fire. His dog was inside the apartment and he was determined to get inside and save him. He battled the flames and was able to bring the dog out to safety. The officials had no choice but to arrest him. He not only put himself in great danger but the firefighters who would have had to enter the burning building to save the man if he had been overcome with smoke.
The man was released with two misdemeanors for disorderly conduct. I’m sure most pet parents would do the same thing.”
BFTB NETWoof News report on rabid skunks and a porcupines revenge

Pierre: “There are many animals that dogs need to stay away from for safety’s sake. One is a skunk because they can spray us with their stink! That’s not the only reason though. We have had some reports of rabid skunks in our area so that is another reason to steer clear of the smelly varmints.
Another animal to avoid is a porcupine. A dog in New Hampshire found out the hard way when he wandered away from home. It took the veterinarian four hours to remove all of the quills from its snout!”

BFTB NETWoof Weather forecast with Paisley the Lab
Paisley the Weather Lab: “It is going to be a wet one again this week from sea to sea. Here in the Pacific Northwest, the showers will resume after a few days of sunshine. Most of the northern states will have storms early in the week and much to the girls from My GBGV Life dismay; it will continue to be warm. The Northeast will be a bit cooler but most of the U.S. will have summerlike temperatures. All along the East Coast, you will see storms later in the week. The southern states and the middle of the country can expect it to be hot with scattered storms. If you are looking for nice weather, you probably need to head to California. It will be nice and mild there.
As always, stay tuned to your local weather for updates and warnings.”
Bentley: “Thanks, Paisley. I’ll be sure to take my Dr. Harvey’s Relax before the storms hit the Bayou.

  2. You are correct! We are not happy about this heat and humidity, and the storms are also not real fun. You boys have a great week and steer clear of skunks and porcupines!

  3. I would risk going to jail to save my pets from a burning building. It would be worth it.
    Stay cool.

  4. Mom gave lots of thought to the skunk that was scurrying after us that one morning and it did enter her head that he could be sick. She still searches for him when we go that route. You can never be too careful! I can't even imagine having those quills in my face. OMD!

  5. When you 'fail' for being too nice, it's especially rewarding to get a pawsome job with the governor. Well done, Gavel!

  6. Ghostwriter's sister's parents-in-law raise puppies who are going to be seeing eye dogs. It's always sad when the graduates move on for more training and then to a person that needs that kind of dog. They all keep in touch, though, and have frequent reunion picnics and parties.

  7. That is pretty funny about Gavel. Mom's K9 at work could be very intimidating when he is working. Otherwise he is so playful

  13. We saw Gavel on the news. Of course, peeps go into danger to protect their animals....just as animals put themselves in danger for humans. It was worth a fine. And we're glad we don't have porcupines here.....or skunks.

  14. There was another dog in NH, not too far from us, that got found with porcupine quills too! This one looked far worse and she had on a pink collar but no ID. :( She was headed to the vet too, but I don't know if they ever found her home or not.
We have seen those nasty creatures in our yard, and Luke almost chased one once. Thank goodness that was a time he listened to me and stayed!

  18. Another wooftastic report!
    3 bum swings! 3 more!
I've seen porcupines waddle across the road but my huMom warned me about their quills.
My departed fur bro Mickey Moo had a few encounters with them; he told me he couldn't help himself but warned me to stay away from them.
