BFTB NETWoof News July 24, 2017

Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and welcome to this week’s BFTB NETWoof News. You can always count on us to fetch the good news that other broadcasts overlook. What is our top story, Pierre?”
BFTB NETWoof News Top Story on a street dog
Pierre Westie: “This is a great story to start off our news. As we all know, homeless dogs have a rough life on the streets. One pup in Alabama was struck by a car and broke his leg. He was picked up
and since there were going to be big medical expenses with little chance of an adoption, he was scheduled for euthanasia. When he was given the injection, they noticed that he moved in an odd way. It was as if he knew what was happening and was trying to fight the drug. Once his body was still, the employees left for the night. Imagine their surprise when they arrived the next morning to see the “dead” dog standing and drinking from the water bowl! They immediately named him Lazarus and the word of his miraculous survival spread like wildfire. A woman who read about Lazarus’ surviving the car accident and his return from the dead, knew he was the dog for her. We are happy to report that he has a forever home and is very happy.”
BFTB NETWoof News on fawn rescue
Bentley: “Our next story involves two dogs in Long Island and a heroic rescue. A man was walking his dogs when he spotted a young deer struggling in the Long Island Sound. Storm, an English Retriever rushed into the water and swam out to the deer. He grabbed the fawn by its neck and brought it back to shore as the man recorded the rescue. Once back on dry land, Storm rested next to the baby deer and began nudging it with his nose.
Storm’s owner called to alert authorities of the deer and as they were walking back on the beach, they saw the silly fawn run right back into the water! For the second act, the humans went in for the rescue. It took eight minutes and a sturdy rope but once again the deer was saved from a watery death. The wayward fawn is being kept at an animal rescue until it can be released.”
BFTB NETWoof News ~ Afghan cat survivor
Pierre: “Our cat report is another story of survival. Hooch was born at the U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan and as a kitten strolled through the Afghan war zone with street smart confidence. He would scare off the rats and scorpions while enjoying head scratches from diplomats. That changed in 2011 when Hooch decided to strut across the podium in the middle of an ambassador’s speech. The order came down the next day to kill all the embassy cats. That is when embassy workers began sneaking cats into their living quarters. One worker decided it was time for Hooch to leave Afghanistan and return with her to North Carolina. Friends paid $1,000 for her to stow the cat on board a Turkish airline. It was a long and scary ordeal but Hooch has now been living in the U.S. for six years. He lives the good life with his best friend who happens to be a Beagle. This story has just been publicized due to it finally being declassified.”
BFTB NETWoof News ~ zoo heat
Bentley: “The summer heat is rough on everyone and that is no exception for the animals that live in zoos. So how do they protect them? It varies from zoo to zoo but many of the animals are brought inside the air conditioned areas during the hottest part of the day. Polar Bears are given ice to keep cool and many zoos have installed misting machines. As the summer heats up it is important that animals are kept as comfortable as possible so if you visit a zoo, you might plan on going earlier in the day before the animals are put in their cool enclosures.
Let’s check in with Paisley to see if we will need to stay indoors this week in the afternoon.”
BFTB NETWoof Weather Forecast
Paisley the Weather Lab: “I have one word to describe this week’s weather and that is HOT! Most of the United States will see high temperatures but some areas will find relief with rain. The northern states will have storms moving in while the east coast will be warm and muggy. Those in the center of the country are going to be sweating if they spend much time outdoors. The Plains can expect scattered storms. The West Coast is going to be mild but foggy. I want to caution our friends in the southwest because I am predicting monsoon storms. Here in the south, we will be hot and humid with Florida getting some coastal storms. Be sure to listen to your local weather for alerts and warnings.”
Bentley: “Thank you for the forecast. We will do our best to maintain our cool around here.
This is going to be an exciting week here on the bayou. We have some great reviews and fun stuff to share with you. Don’t miss a single day with us. On behalf of the BFTB NETWoof News team, thanks for visiting and be sure to grab yourself some happy!”

  4. I have a tough time reading some of the stories about these dogs but I am thankful that they got forever homes now! Try to stay cool! I was only in New Orleans for one day and I seriously thought I would DIE from the humidity! I guess people say you get used to it...but I never would. I do not tolerate heat well! :)
