BFTB NETWoof News July 3, 2017

Bentley Basset Hound: “Greetings and welcome back to the best feel-good news on the web! We have had quite an adventure over the past two weeks but things are settling down and we are back in the newsroom. I’m sure we will have a post to tell you all about what has been going on with us and Paisley but for now, let’s get to our top story.”
BFTB NETWoof News warns of 4th of July dangers

Pierre Westie: “It is great to be back! Our top story is a reminder that not all pets enjoy the 4th of July. This is the holiday that leads to more missing pets than any other. Please keep your dogs and cats indoors while people are popping fireworks. They can be scary and dangerous for them. Also be sure to check the yard and walking area for discarded fireworks after the holiday. Many of you will be celebrating with barbecues and that is a temptation all on its own! Don’t feed your pet spicy barbecue and make sure they don’t jump up on the hot grill. It is also important that you remind your guests to close the doors when they go in and out. Let’s make sure the 4th of July is a fun-filled holiday and doesn’t become a tragedy for your pets.”
BFTB NETWoof News report on Schnauzers return to the smell of sausage after being lost
Bentley: “There is nothing more tempting than a rack of ribs on the grill! Two miniature Schnauzers found the scent of their owner’s sausage to be the key to returning home. The pups had been missing for several days in northwest England and over 120 people had joined the search party to look for them. After over 96 hours of calling their names and sleeping in a tent near the area the dogs were last seen, the owners set up a little grill and began cooking sausage. That was all it took! The two wayward pups showed up immediately. I am pretty sure an exception was made for this grilled food and they both had their fill.”
BFTB NETWoof News reports on a cat returned after 11 years thanks to microchip
Pierre: “You know that we are always barking about getting your pet microchipped. It is just as important for cats as it is for dogs. This next story is a perfect example of how it can make the difference in being reunited or lost forever. It began eleven years ago when the ginger-colored cat named Whiskey went missing. His owner searched for him and finally decided her beloved cat must have met an untimely death. Little did she know that Whiskey had been found and was living with a gentleman not too far from home. After over a decade the man became ill and was forced to surrender Whiskey to a local shelter. Imagine their surprise when they scanned for a microchip and discovered Whiskey’s true owner’s identity. They have been happily reunited and hopefully, Whiskey will stay close to home from now on.”
BFTB NETWoof News report on cat stuck in chimney
Bentley: “I’m sure that Whiskey was happy to be home but it sometimes takes a while for a pet to get used to new surroundings. That was the case with Lola the kitten when she was adopted by a new family. She seemed to have disappeared for four days. Just as they began to believe that she had run away, they heard her cries from the most unusual place. Lola had decided to play Santa Claus and explore the chimney! Unfortunately, she became hopelessly stuck. The family called for help and after four hours of hard work, including removing part of the chimney, the feline was returned to the loving arms of her people. They took her to the vet for a check-up and she was okay. She is finally settling into her new home and steering clear of the fireplace.
Let’s check in with Paisley for the forecast and to find out what big news she has to share!”
BFTB NETWoof Weather Lab reports from Texas!
Paisley the Weather Lab: “Hey, y’all! It has been such an exciting two weeks for me and my family. It all began when everything in our apartment started getting put in boxes. The next thing I knew, your Mom and Dad showed up in Washington. I knew something was happening but had no idea what it was until my Dad came home with a ginormous U-Haul. It was official, we were moving again. This time we moved back to the south where it is sunny and I have my very own backyard! We are now Texans and I could not be happier. I’ll share more about the trip later this week. Let’s get to the weather forecast.
It is actually going to be warm and sunny in the Pacific Northwest this week. Please check for available cooling shelters if you don’t have air conditioning. The northern states will be warm and muggy too. The center of the U.S. will be hot with a chance of storms all the way to the east coast. California can expect partly cloudy skies while the Southwest will be hot, hot, hot! Here in the Lone Star state, we will be hot and breezy. The rest of the southern states will be hot and humid.
As always, be sure to keep an eye on the sky and an ear to your local weather stations for updates or warnings. Boys, I could not be happier to be close to y’all again!”
Bentley: “We are so happy that you are back down south! I know our parents are thrilled to have your family close again. I’m sure that we will be seeing each other soon.
On behalf of your BFTB News team, thanks to everyone for visiting us while we have been away. We missed bringing you the news. Mom tried to visit with as many of you as she could manage. It is back to business now and we have a great week of reviews and fun that you don’t want to miss.
Have a wonderful and safe 4th of July. Be sure to grab yourself some happy!”
