When the Thunder Rolls Fetch a ThunderShirt

If you have a dog that hates thunderstorms, chances are you are familiar with the ThunderShirt®. I have used the original heather grey one on Bentley for several years. It was recommended by a veterinarian to help calm his anxiety during storms. I have always loved the results but not how the shirt collected his hair!

Barking from the Bayou, LLC received a ThunderShirt Sport, ThunderEase Diffuser and Spray in exchange for an honest review. We only share products that we feel will benefit our readers and all opinions are our own. ThunderWorks is not responsible for the contents of this article. Our post does contain Amazon affiliate links.
We recently reviewed the ThunderSnap® and when reading about the leash, I noticed they had a new ThunderShirt Sport®. It is just like the original ThunderShirt but is made from polyester. I wondered if this would be better for a Basset Hound that sheds 24/7. They offered to send me one to try. Of course, I jumped at the chance.

Bentley is looking sporty in his ThunderShirt Sport
When the box arrived, I was very impressed with the ThunderShirt Sport. It is platinum with tangerine piping and has reflective logos for added safety at night. You can also order it in fuchsia with carbon trim but the platinum was more “manly” according to Bentley.
It didn’t take long before the thunder rolled onto the bayou. I add all-natural products like Dr. Harvey’s Relax to Bentley’s food whenever bad weather is predicted. I find the combination of these along with the ThunderShirt make a HUGE difference in his demeanor.
The Sport feels lighter and the material is perfect for Bentley. I was thrilled to discover that it worked just as wonderfully as the original but his hair didn’t get stuck all over it. If it gets dirty, I can toss it in the washer and hang it up to dry. Easy Peasy!
If you have never used a ThunderShirt to relieve your pet’s stress, it works the same way swaddling a baby calms them down. The constant pressure helps with anxiety, fear and over-excitement. It has an over 80% success rate and comes with a money-back guarantee.
I love our ThunderShirt Sport! That’s not all that was in the box though. Look at what else they sent us.
Try ThunderEase Calming Diffuser Kit and Calming Spray for your dog
ThunderWorks® has developed a new pheromone line of products to help calm pets called ThunderEase®. These pheromones are recommended by veterinarians and have been clinically proven to be 90% effective with cats and dogs to help them feel safe in their environment. The pheromones replicate the ones naturally emitted by their mothers after giving birth.
The ThunderEase Diffuser kit is a drug-free calming solution that you plug into an electric outlet. The diffuser works for 30 days and is effective in a room up to 700 sq. feet. You can buy refills for the plug-in to keep your pup feeling calm. The pheromones released can help curb unwanted chewing, trembling and incessant barking. It is also very attractive!
ThunderEase Spray for dogs is perfect for taking the calming effects on the road. Like the diffuser, the spray gives off the same pheromone mother dogs emit. You can spray it inside your car, on collars, leashes, blanket, beds, and bandanas 15 minutes before travel to help your pup relax on a trip. This can make the drive to your vet’s office much less stressful for both of you. It can be reapplied every 4-5 hours if needed.
ThunderWorks recommends trying ThunderEase products for at least 30 days. You could see results in as few as one week depending on your dog. I spritz ThunderEase Spray Bentley’s ThunderShirt Sport for maximum calm. I’m proud to say that he slept under the table while we worked during today’s storms.
Try Thunder Shirt Sport, ThunderEase Diffuser and ThunderEase Spray and help make your pet Insanely Calm™. Keep up with all of the amazing things at ThunderWorks by following them on ThunderShirt.com, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

  1. Looks like some good stuff. Luckily, storms don't really bother us much since we get them so much. All I do is growl at da really loud thunder.

  2. We love most of their products, but the shirt did not work on LadyBug. We were down in Panama City Beach and we had.wicked storms and tornadoes last spring. I went over to PetSmart and picked up one of the Thundershirts. Unfortunately, it had no effect at all on her. Since she was a rescue, we didn't know her background though...but we ended up having to return the shirt. So glad it worked out well for Bentley. He is stylin' in that thing!

  4. That Thunder Shirt Sport looks great on you, Bentley. Bailie is the only one who is scared around here, but Mom is managing it with an essential oil, and lots of patience. She seems to be getting better.

  6. Glad this helped sweet Bentley for when the thunder rolled in (but I thought the saints came marching in down your way-LOL). Like that polyester material. I tried to click on the ThunderWorks diffuser and ThunderEase links but alas, they didn't work. I'll be checking those out on their website. 😇

    1. I think it would be wonderful not to have thunder for Bentley. I enjoy a thunderstorm except for his anxiety.

  11. OMCs Ironically mom bought me some grain free Beyond salmon with sweet potato canned food today. I seemed to like the taste...she meant to buy two cans of pate but mistakenly picked up one can of chunky food with gravy. I did eat it and licked the gravy. The other can is grain free pate. Thank your Mom Pierre and Bentley
    Hugs madi and mom

  12. So far, we're lucky in the thunder/firework problems...we don't have much of either, but those products sound just the thing for worried dogs. Roxy is our hair shedder here.

  14. We hope those products and the new shirt helps Bentley. The ThunderEase sounds a little like Feliway that us cats use. We didn't realize Basset Hounds shed so much.

    1. They are making thunderstorms much more bearable. I always hoped that he would outgrow his anxiety to thunder but if anything, it has gotten worse as he ages. It breaks our heart so we do everything in our power to ease his fear. Yes, he is a shedding machine!

  15. We had a terrier mix who was terrified of thunderstorms. She actually got to the point where the sound of raindrops brought on anxiety. Fortunately Harper Lee and Tallulah are practically oblivious to lightning and thunder. But I know that dogs can develop thunder anxiety as they age, so we will definitely keep these products in mind. By the way, Bentley, would do look super manly in your shirt. :-)

  17. Wow, they are really expanding! We never had much luck with the thundershirt, but I sure do remember how Moses and Sheba's fur stuck to it! We'll have to take a look at some of these new products, making one with that polyester material seems like a really great idea.
