The first week of October is National Walk Your Dog Week. It is a great time to point out the obvious and not so obvious reasons that you should get off your butt and move your mutt!

• Walking is an awesome bonding experience.Man with dog and woman with baby stroller
• You can socialize your pup by walking in a local park where they can encounter strangers and other dogs.

  11. If I couldn't walk with my dogs, I wouldn't be fit to be around. Luckily, the dogs happily satisfy my walking needs-we walk anywhere from 3 to 6 miles a day, depending on the weather.

  15. Beautiful walking paths! I think I recognize that third photo as the town of Sedona, am I right? You make a good point that walking your dog in the 'hood a lot will help neighbors recognize your dog if he ever gets lost.
