BFTB NETWoof News November 6, 2017

Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and welcome to this week’s BFTB NETWoof News. We have some great news for you today so let me have my co-anchor, Pierre, fetch the top story.”
BFTB NETWoof News report on humans' love for dogs
Pierre Westie: “I enjoy this report because it reveals that some humans really do love their dogs more than other humans. In an experiment involving 240 people, participants were given a fake newspaper report describing an attack on a human or a dog with a baseball bat. The article described the victim being left with several lacerations, a broken leg and unconscious. They were told the victims were a one-year old baby, a 30- year-old adult, a puppy, and a six-year-old dog.
The results showed similar level of empathy for the child, the puppy and the dog but not so much the adult. Most of those surveyed viewed the dog as much a family member as the child.
On a personal note, I have heard many people say they don’t care who dies in a movie or book as long as it’s not the dog!”
BFTB NETWoof News featuring two Great Pyrenees.
Bentley: “We have reported on the devastating wildfires in California in the past but today we have a couple of good stories rising from the ashes.
A family was forced to evacuate their farm when the Tubbs fire threatened them. Odin, their Great Pyrenees refused to leave the family’s goats behind, so they had to go without him. Heartbroken, they felt for sure they’d sentenced Odin and the goats to a death sentence.
It was several days before they were allowed back on their property. Imagine their joy when they discovered their dog and the goats alive! They all suffered burns but survived and are being cared for by a local animal sanctuary until the family rebuilds.”
BFTB NETWoof News with tabby cat
Pierre: “That’s not the only happy reunion from the Tubbs fires. A cat was discovered badly burned but still alive by a good Samaritan that carried him to a veterinarian hospital. They began treatment and according to procedure, scanned for a microchip. It turned out that the cat’s name was Pilot and had been missing for TEN YEARS!! His family had searched for him when he didn’t show up one evening. After a few years, they relocated from California to Colorado. They were stunned when the hospital called to say their furry friend was alive. He still has a long road to recovery, but his family is going to visit him and plan on bringing him home as soon as he can travel.”
BFTB NETWoof News report on a duck and dog
Bentley: “Pierre, you and I are totally different in many ways, but we are still best friends. That is one of the cool things about animals. We simply don’t discriminate. Just ask the 12-year-old Husky named Max. He lost his best Husky buddy and was very depressed. His family brought home Quackers the duck and Max would sit next to his pen all day. When they let Quackers out of the pen, he and max became inseparable. They spend all their time together and have even stopped traffic when people see them snuggled together. It just goes to show you that friends can come in all shapes and sizes.”
Our nieces are awesome. Kelsey (left) just beat cancer & Holley (right) just ran the NTC Marathon
Pierre: “We don’t have any animal sports this week but wanted to give a shout-out to our niece, Holley. She ran in the New York City Marathon to honor her sister. You can read their story ‘When Someone You Love Has Cancer’ and ‘Why I Am So Thankful This Thursday’. Anyway, we are so proud to report that she finished in just under 5 hours! Kelsey even surprised Holley by showing up in the Big Apple to cheer her during the run. We could not be prouder of our nieces!”
BFTB NETWoof Weather with Paisley the Weather Lab
Paisley: “I love to run but over 26 miles is incredible! Speaking of incredible, this week’s weather is wacky. There are states in the north already enjoying snow while we are in the 80’s down here in the south.
The Pacific Northwest will continue to get showers and some might be mixed with snow. It will be cold across the northern states and much cooler in the northeast too. Rain will be falling along the east coast except for southern Florida where it will be fair. The southern states will find themselves in a much-needed midweek cooldown. If you are in the west, the week will be sunny and mild. The center of the country will have mild and cooler temperatures. I think that overall, it will be a great weather week for most of us.
Stay tuned to your local weather stations for any updates or warnings as weather can change very quickly.
On behalf of me and my sister, thanks for all the compliments on our Captain Hook and Tinkerbell Halloween costumes. It was a lot of fun!”
