A Little of This and a Lot of That

I have a few things to share with y’all today so instead of our regular post, we are sharing a little of this-n-that.
Awesome gift box tower from Chewy.com
• There’s this: Thanks to Chewy.com for our wonderful New Year’s Gift boxes. It was chocked full of tasty treats for Skipper and me to enjoy with our coffee.
Solvit Deluxe Ramp
• And that: Bentley received an amazing Solvit Deluxe Telescoping Ramp from Natalie at Chewy.com. If you remember, it was our one “need” in the 4 Gifts for Pets contest that was held the first part of December. We haven’t had a chance to use it for a review yet. There were several days of rain, then I injured my “good knee” stepping off a curb. UGH! The orthopedic doctor gave me a cortisone shot that I have been waiting 87 weeks 3 weeks to work. He does have me scheduled to get a gel shot in my bad knee next week. I am praying this will go a long way in helping me walk without looking like Willie Wonka walking to greet the Golden Ticket winners pain. I’ll keep you updated on how it works.
Basset and Westie playing
• Then this happened: We went out of town for the holidays. Reviewing our new ramp was on our “to do” list as soon as we returned. It is going to make our trips so much easier for Bentley and our backs! We picked the boys up last week and they were soooo excited. They went to do a perimeter search of our backyard but decided to act like raving lunatics wrestle and play chase after being in a prison cell their doggie suite. When they settled down both slept like the dead. Later, we noticed Bentley would not get on the couch or sit up like he ALWAYS does. I felt all over him and he never winced or gave any indication of pain. We fixed his bed up in the living room and kept a close eye on him. If he had indicated that he was in ANY discomfort, we would have taken him to the vet. I did start him on glucosamine in addition to his Dr. Harvey’s Golden Years. He began climbing up on the couch this past weekend and today (Jan.1) he sat up several times! Granted it was to beg for ham, but we are so glad our boy is back to his silly self.

That’s why: We are hoping to have our Solvit ramp review soon. There is now an arctic blast and it is in the teens so I’m not sure how many walks we will take this week. I know some of y’all are enduring below zero temperatures and I honestly don’t see how you survive. I’m sure you have clothes for such temperatures, but we don’t. BRRRRR! The boys are going to be ready to walk soon and you can be sure we will be using our new ramp! Thanks again Natalie & Chewy.
Treatibles CBDs treats
This helped: As I have been telling y’all, Bentley HATES fireworks. We gave him 1½ Treatibles® Grain-Free Pumpkin treats as it was getting dark outside. He was so chilled throughout the night! When the fireworks were at their loudest, he wouldn’t go outside to pee but when it settled down, he did. This was a MAJOR deal for us. I am ordering some oil to try along with the treats this month. *I am an affiliate for Treatibles and can save you 10% on any of your orders. Just use BFTB at checkout.
Ebates Coupons and Cash Back
That brings me to this: When we visited our son and his family over the Thanksgiving holidays, my daughter-in-law introduced me to a website called EBATES. You can shop at awesome stores like Macy’s, Walmart, Kohl’s, Amazon, Old Navy and countless others. The stores have great savings PLUS you get cash back when you make a purchase. The amount you receive varies from store-to-store but can be anywhere from 2% to 25%. EBATES has already sent my first check! You can also earn money by referring others to shop. Here’s how it works:
•Invite a friend to EBATES.
• They join and spend at least $25.
• I get $15 and the person I invited gets $10!
• You can invite others and get the same referral deal.

  2. Glad you’re feeling better, B. Your little bones might have stiffened up a bit at dog jail and weren’t quite ready tor zoomies in the yard. Don’t let them say you’ll get used to the cold. It goes on forever and I will NEVER get used to it.

  3. I'm the same way, Bentley. When I over do it, I don't go upstairs for a day or two and then I a back to my old self, but I use a different product to keep my joints in shape. It is tough getting older! At least we are together! Sometimes I go to the chiropractor for an adjustment which is also a helpful tool.

PS it was 13 real temp at wake up time in our City and 64 in the house in spite of non stop heat running. Just not normal temps for anywhere in NC for this long. Last night on the news they said Raleigh had been below freezing for over 50 hours.

  8. That ramp looks like a good idea. Chester is getting so he has a hard time jumping up onto the couch. He probably should lose some weight. (Don't tell him I said that.)

Hope you knee feels better. I've had those Synvisc (gel) injections. They only helped a little. I try to avoid cortisone. (Hate that stuff!) Now that I've had a knee replacement, I wish I had done it sooner. Good luck!

  11. As we become "more mature," Bentley, the stretches before zoomies become even more important. Mommy's found that to be true as she "matures." Now she's so exhausted after all the stretching, the zoomies rarely happen. I guess that's one way to prevent zoomie injuries. ;-) Stay warm, boys. Yesterday our outside water bowl stayed frozen for the entire day. I thought all those planting calendars had us in the tropical zone. This sure as heck is not tropical!

  15. That looks like an awesome ramp. That is really cold for you - we were down to 7 degrees this morning. We will be happy if we can stay out of the subzero temps

  17. You've been having some rough times over there! We're glad Bentley is doing better, and hope your knee is better soon too!
How do we survive the below zero temps? By hibernating inside as much as we can! LOL We're getting a heat wave today, it's almost 15 degrees out now! :)

  18. So happy Bentley is back to himself.
Looking forward to your review; my sister Q is older & had a very hard life outside tied to a heavy chain (heavier than she) for most of her life. She has some trouble getting up into & out of the vehicles. She doesn't like to be picked up so it's always painful for all of us to watch.
That cold snap prevented us from going for walkies/bush runs for several days & we're Canadian!
Stay warm, safe & strong in 2018!

    Nose nudges,
    CEO Olivia
