BFTB NETWoof News January 8, 2018

Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and welcome to our first BFTB NETWoof News of 2018. We have really missed reporting for the last couple of weeks so let’s get right to our top story. I’m sure Pierre has a great one to kick off the new year.”
BFTB NETWoof News report on duck with 3D leg
This is my friend's duck!
Pierre Westie: “As a matter of fact, the duck in our top story might be able to kick again thanks to its new 3D leg! Some eighth-grade science students in Armorel, Arkansas came to the rescue of an eight-month-old Indian Runner duck named Peg after one of its legs was eaten by a turtle when it was a tiny duckling. The students heard of Peg’s plight and decided to build a prosthetic leg to help. It took over 30 tries to get it perfect but they succeeded in giving the duck a leg up on life!”

BFTB NETWoof News on legal marijuana and K9 dogs
This is our handsome retired K9 Jake. He was awesome.
Bentley: “That is a great report and I’m glad everything worked out just ducky.
As you probably know, California became another state to legalize recreational marijuana. It is a cash crop for the states but what happens to all the specially trained pot-sniffing K-9s? They are still being used in most places if they are trained to sniff out other illegal contraband. Prisons and cargo ships are still being searched for pot. Other departments are retiring their dogs. Some will probably be sold to departments in states where marijuana is still against the law.”
BFTB NETWoof News on a cat burglar
This is our Manx cat Amos. He was purr-fect.
Pierre: “This next report shines the spotlight on an unusual porch pirate who is stealing deliveries. A woman in Florida arrived home in time to discover her cat burglar was an actual cat! She had ordered two catnip bananas for her own cats when a neighbor cat decided to help itself to the Amazon delivery. It had already succeeded in getting one of the toys out of the envelope and was enjoying some nip. Her cats were looking out the window in horror as she rescued their beloved toys and shooed the thief away.”
BFTB NETWoof News about drunk opossum

Bentley: “That’s some impressive sniffing for the cat to find those treats. Our last story had us snickering after we learned the animal was okay. You see, the police in Florida were called to a liquor store to apprehend a drunken intruder. While that is not an unusual call for officers, the perp was what made this so weird. An opossum had gotten into the liquor store and broke a bottle of bourbon. He was either partying or drowning his sorrows but was definitely drunk. They loaded the inebriated possum into a box and took it to an animal rescue. After a couple of days spent sobering up, it was released back into the wild.
Let’s check in with our Weather Lab. How’s 2018 shaping up so far Paisley?”
Paisley the Weather Lab and the forecast for the week of 1-8-18
Paisley: “Happy 2018! Has it been cold enough for y’all? My goodness, winter made herself known over the past couple of weeks across the United States. We even had snow in southern Texas and Louisiana!
The week ahead looks a little better but will still be wet and cold. The Pacific northwest and the western coast can expect some much-needed rain. I’m hoping it is only showers in California since the fires have increased the possibility of landslides. Our friends to the north will still have plenty of snow and cold temperatures. As we look at the east coast, it will be cold with showers all the way down to Florida. Here in the south, it will be warming up with plenty of sunshine. The center of the country will be sunny with a mixture of rain and snow.
Please stay tuned to your local stations for updates and warnings. If your dog is outside, make sure they have a warm dry place to sleep and get out of the elements. Everyone stay warm and safe!
Bentley: “That wraps up our first broadcast for the New Year. We’d appreciate you sharing our link so others can enjoy BFTB NETWoof News.
Don’t miss a great week of fun as we will finally report on our new ramp, a super cool ball and much more. Have a wonderful week and be sure to grab yourself some happy!”

  7. Great report! The cat burglar reminds me of what happened at Oma's house once. There was a big package of goodies from Germany sitting on the porch that she didn't know was there. It was a good thing ghostwriter came over to visit. She found the package and brought it in. But there was a hole chewed into the side of the box right where there were some chocolate and hazelnut covered liquer-filled candies and several of these candies were gone. We hope that rotten squirrel got real drunk and met with an unfortunate accident for ruining Oma's candy!

  10. A pilfering cat...who'd have thunk it possible? Good thing the opossum didn't suffer from alcohol poisoning. Then again, maybe he was the one who trained the cat to pinch the Amazon package?! We've heard they are pretty craft fellas. 😆
