A Funny Thing Happened on the Bayou

I was in my office earlier today working on this post. It was going to be a serious post and to be honest, I was not happy with it. That is when I asked Skipper to sneak in and take pictures of the boys hanging out with me. Once they got settled, I gave him the all clear. That is when the Bayou Boys rewrote today’s blog.

This is the picture I wanted. Bentley and Pierre are always in the office “working” when I’m at my desk. Skipper has to sneak because as soon as Pierre senses him, he is up and ready to play.

Pierre's Tummy Update

You might remember that earlier this month we had to take Pierre to the vet with tummy troubles. They gave us two types of medicine and recommended we buy Prilosec or Pepcid when the meds ran out. As I mentioned in the previous blog, Pierre has always had a sensitive stomach. If he goes too long without eating, it makes all sorts of weird noises. This has been going on his entire life and I explained that to our vet. We have had him checked and there is nothing wrong with him. He is healthy as a horse other than his tummy issues.

Flagology Forever

I’ll be honest with you, nothing excites me more than picking out new things for the house. Decorating is the best way to make a place your own. Adding your personal stamp to the inside and outside is what changes a house into your home. We have hung photos, paintings and put out our knick-knacks so it looks like us. Skipper has shaped up our shrubs and has the yard looking nice but something was missing.
There was no question what we needed…a cool new garden flag with the boys’ photo on it. Luckily, I knew just where to turn. Flagology is my go-to site for all flags. We have several garden flags in their seasonal and holiday themes along with some personalized house flags. It never failed that when I changed my flags, my neighbors would smile and come over to admire them. A cute flag is the perfect conversation starter to meet our new neighbors.
We received a garden flag and doormat from Flagology in exchange for an honest review.  Barking from the Bayou only shares products that we feel would benefit our readers. Flagology is not responsible for the contents of this article.

Bayou Boys in Black & White #Photography

I love black & white photography. There is something about them that draws me in and gives me a peaceful feeling. Over the years, Skipper has taken some wonderful pictures of the Bayou Boys that I wanted to share with you in beautiful black and white. #ThrowbackThursday
We hope you enjoy these with a smile.

Chip Chip Hooray!

Me: “Boys, May is almost over, and we have not done our annual Chip Your Pets Month reminder post!”
Bentley Basset Hound: “An entire month devoted to giving your pets some chips. I love when you accidentally drop a chip on the floor for us. The nacho cheese ones are exceptionally tasty.”
Pierre Westie: “Chips are good, but I prefer her to drop some cake.”

Buggy Over goDog Caterpillars

Pierre Westie: “Let me just say that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE goDog® toys. They are some of our favorites and Mom is not afraid to play tug super hard with them. I don’t think I’ve been able to kill one yet. This is our newest plush squeaky toy, The Caterpillar. I can’t wait to get a hold of him. Look at his eyes and tiny fangs. This fella is going to put up a good fight.

Always make sure they have proper identification. That means a microchip for your cat or dog. Some birds have bands on their legs that can help identify them if they get lost.

They recently won the Best Pet Humor Blog at the 2018 BlogPaws Nose-to-Nose Awards! Valentine also shares his home with a beautiful Basset Hound named Bessie. If that isn’t coincident enough, his aunt is a white Westie named Lily Madison! It is obvious that we were meant to be great friends. Thank y’all for our award. 💘

Pierre's Bed Woes

Westie in large Petlinks bed
We received a Petlinks Rejuvenate pet bed in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are our own and Petlinks is not responsible for the contents of this article.
Pierre Westie: “You might remember last December when I so gleefully showed off my new bed from Petlinks®. A lot has happened since then so let me catch you up on the “bedlam” that has ensued. The problem began when Bentley decided that he wanted my Rejuvenate Supreme Soother™ gel memory foam pet bed for himself. He even tried to pull the senior dog card on me! I know therapeutic beds will distribute our weight to help rejuvenate us while we sleep. It provides cooling comfort and custom support that is awesome for dogs at any age. Y'all know I'm an easy-going guy so I told him he could use it when I wasn't napping. Before I could bark, he had claimed it as his own!

A Few of Our Favorites from Dr. Harvey's

We have been barking about Dr. Harvey’s amazing products since 2015 and there is a great reason for that. We absolutely love and believe in everything they make. That is why we became brand ambassadors! They are not just a company for dogs. Remember, Dr. Harvey’s has a complete line of products for cats and birds too. So if your best friend purrs or tweets, they have you covered!
Today, I am sharing a few of my favorite things from
Dr. Harvey’s:

The Organic Healing Cream is one product that I urge every dog parent to have in their first aid kit. We call it the miracle cream because it seems to heal almost overnight.

Puppy Mill Action Week

No dog loving person would knowingly support a puppy mill. They are horrid places where dogs are abused, used as breeding factories and live in squalor. The key is doing your homework before investing your money and your heart in a sick puppy.
*Please note that I will NOT share those gut-wrenching photos of abused, sick, or neglected dogs. We have all seen them and the images haunt me. I refuse to use the shock value to guilt you into action. Instead, enjoy what a healthy happy puppy should look like when you welcome them into your family. This little pup was up for adoption at the humane society.

Tummy Troubles

One of the things I meant to do as soon as we were settled was to find a new veterinarian office for the boys. Well, time has a funny way of slipping by and suddenly you find yourself in need of a vet. What to do, what to do…
My defense: I have talked to some neighbors and family members about which vet they use for their pets. I also read reviews and checked out Facebook pages of the clinics closest to our home. Still, I had not taken the time to visit any of them.

My predicament: Pierre’s tummy was giving him trouble. He has always had a sensitive stomach. It makes insanely loud noises if it gets empty and he will occasionally throw up some bile. This rarely happens but when it does, it’s usually in the wee hours of the morning. I feed him, and he is fine. We have even been giving him a little midnight snack to help.
