The Bayou Boys' Backyard

Basset and Westie in yard
Bentley Basset Hound: “Pierre, you know that we haven’t shared too many action pics of us in our backyard lately. I don’t want people to think we’ve slacked up on our patrols. It’s been rainy, you were sick, and the holidays hit but most days we make sure our backyard is safe from intruders.”

Pierre Westie: “There are no days off from home security and surveillance. Don’t move a muscle…I think there are children riding bikes. We may need to bark like crazy to let them know to be careful. Let’s run along the fence with them!”

Bentley: As you can see in this photo, my ears are flying as I run at lightning speed along the fence. I might be 11 years old but I can still snoopervise a perimeter patrol like a dog half my age.”

Pierre: “Oops! The puparazzi caught me talking to the Labrador girl that lives behind us. I am pretty sure that she has a crush on me because she always comes to the fence when I am outside. It’s the curse of being so darn fluffy and cute.”

Bentley: “What do you mean we need to quieten down? We are just being neighborly and barking at everything that moves. People love the sound of my voice.”
Pierre: “Seriously, Mom! Let us do our job and save our family. This is us!”

  2. I agree, keeping up patrols is so very important for us leading companions. I have a very large patch to do, plus fences to scale and roofs to sit on! It's tough being on top (of things) but someone has to do it and I can't ask the staff as she'll most likely fall off! MOL

  3. We are on active yard patrol multiple times every day too. Mom gets mad and makes us come inside if we start howling. Not sure why she doesn't appreciate our efforts to stave off intruders! Happy patrolling!

  7. Sometimes I get the feeling that my humans don't always appreciate my barking. But how else would they be alerted about the neighbor kids running around, or a car door slamming three blocks away? That's important homeland security work, right?

  11. You boys are lucky to have each other! Luke has to patrol our whole yard and all around the house all by himself - it's a lot of work for one dog! :)
