BFTB NETWoof News February 18, 2019

Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and welcome to this week’s BFTB NETWoof news and weather. We hope you are ready for some good animal stories because we have fetched some doozies! Let’s check with Pierre for our top story.”
Pierre Westie: “You know everyone loves a wedding and the SPCA Tampa Bay in Largo, Florida turned that love into a furbulous fundraiser! They recently hosted wedding-like ceremonies for animals to help raise much-needed funds.
The ceremonies ranged from $30 to $100 and included their special timeslot, a checklist, a digital save-the-date card, a wedding toast, and marriage license. All the new couples were entered in a chance to win a honeymoon package too! From what we understand, none of the participants got cold paws and the weddings were lovely.”

Bentley: “I think most people can agree that animals have the ability to feel emotions. Of course, it wasn’t always that way. People during the Renaissance used to believe that animals weren’t capable of feelings or emotions. If an animal cried out in pain, it was considered to just be a reflex. WRONG!
Thankfully, most people now realize that all animals are capable of feeling. The Australian Capital Territory is considering legislation to include animal ‘sentience’ into law. That means for the first time an Australian jurisdiction will consider animals’ feelings along with their physical welfare in animal protection laws. We feel that this is an important step in the right direction.”

Pierre: “Have you entered for a chance to win a bag of Dr. Harvey’s Sweet Potate’r Chews? We are giving a bag away this week and your dog will be very happy if your name is chosen. You can visit our post, Choose Sweet Potate’r Chews to find the Rafflecopter entry form.
We also want to remind you of the last night of Hallmark channel’s American Rescue Dog Show. If last night was any indication, we are in for even more cuteness overload!”
Bentley: “People in Cleveland, Ohio snickered when the National Weather Service issued an rather unusual advisory. They warned of a ‘Small Dog Wind Advisory’ when wind gusts reaching 50 m.p.h. were in the forecast. While it might have seemed funny, the warning was completely serious. A 6-pound Chihuahua was picked up by 70-mph winds in Michigan in 2009. The pup survived after being found over a mile away! When you live in a windy city, it’s a good idea to hold onto your pooch!
Let’s see if we are going to need to watch for the wind or rain this week with our weather lab.”

Paisley the Weather Lab: “I don’t think we have to worry about the wind but if you live in the north, it might be a good idea to snuggle with an extra pup at night!
Snow is likely over the mountain west and the mountain plains. More cold weather and snow is expected in the northern states. The west coast is looking at more rain as is the southern Gulf Coast region. It will be partly cloudy and cold in the center of the U.S.
For the most part, it should be a pretty good week in weather. Of course, if you are where the snow is deep or there has been too much rain, please stay up to date with your local forecast. Have a wonderful week and stay safe.”
Bentley: “We appreciate you joining us this week for BFTB NETWoof news. It’d be great if you’d share our link on social media so we can make other folks smile.

  10. Anyone who has lived with an animal knows they feel emotions. It's nice to finally see that acknowledged.
