Caru Means To Love

Have you heard about Caru Natural Stews and Treats?  No?  Well, today is your lucky day as well as your dog’s.  The boys are stewing to tell you all about this great company, their amazing stews, and treats.  Therefore, without further ado, here is Bentley and Pierre.
Bentley: “Great introduction Mom and speaking of great; let’s talk about this Caru Natural Stews and Treats.  Being a highly observant dog, the first thing that I noticed was the unusual packaging.  Most of our food comes in a bag, but these came in little boxes.  They almost looked like those boxed juice drinks that the kids drink.  It’s the eco-friendly Tetra Pak packaging and is very cost efficient.  It only takes 1/3 of the packaging that conventional canned food takes.  The cool thing is when Caru saves, they pass that savings on to us.  It is so much easier to store these boxes and they will last two years if left unopened.  Not that I could leave it unopened for two years; this stew is incredible.”
Pierre: “That’s right, Bentley.  It tastes as good as Gramma’s homemade stew, except it is actually good for us.  No offense, Gramma.  As far as the packaging goes, I am all about being

green.  Their cute boxes are made with renewable materials, recyclable paperboard, BPA free, and after we wolf down the stew, the package goes in the blue recycle can!  The Canadian couple that founded Caru is Adrian and Pamela Pettyan.  They are both health professionals and used to run a human primary health care center.  At home, they were the pet parents of a Golden Retriever named; you guessed it, Karu.  Caru means, “To love” in Welsh but they changed the C to a K when they named their puppy.  The poor little Golden had acute ear infections, although there is nothing cute about ear infections.  I never understood why something that is bad is considered “a~cute” thing.”
Bentley: “Ouch!  You can believe me when I say ear infections hurt!  Their vet suggested they start feeding Karu a homemade diet with pure, healthy, nutritious food.  They got together with a Ph.D. nutritionist and came up with a delicious stew.  Karu is one lucky dog!  His parents have developed a complete line of nutritional food and treats in his honor.  The fantastic thing is, they created the company for their dog, but all of us dogs benefit.  When Mom opened the spiffy box and poured the gravy on top of our food, she noticed lots of vegetables.  She felt the need to show me, but I just wanted her to get it ready.  I’d never had green beans before, but they are so good!
Pierre: “It even smelled just like the stew Gramma makes and I was drooling as she stirred it
into our dry food.  I couldn’t believe that it was for us.  I ate it as if I’d stolen it from the counter.  It doesn’t have any grains and they start with USDA-inspected, antibiotic and hormone free meat or poultry.  The recipes are made without wheat, gluten, corn, soy, or animal by-products.  Just the thought of animal by-products makes me queasy.  They prepare their food in small batches right here in the U.S.A.  Nothing comes from China, which makes me happy!  We have the chicken and turkey flavors, but it also comes in beef and pork.”
Bentley: “Mom poured a good bit on each of our food from the 12.5 ounce box, but there was some left over.  Now, she could have refrigerated and given it to us the next day, but she had just gotten a silicon dog paw-shaped baking tray.  I could almost see the light bulb go off over her head.  She jumped up and got her new baking tray and poured the rest of the stew into the little paw prints.  She was grinning like a Cheshire cat when she put the tray into the freezer.  I have to admit, it turned out to be a brilliant idea.  They are perfect cool treats for our sweltering summer days.”
Pierre: “They really are yummy.  We love Gramma’s frozen treats, but we also had a bag of Caru Chicken Treats.  Those babies are chocked full of goodness.”
Bentley: “Actually, they are full of meat or poultry, healthy blueberries, and cranberries.  Just like their stews, they are made in small batches and naturally preserved.  Mom loves the resealable bag.  We received the bars, but you can buy them in smaller bite-sized treats.  I may let her think that she is training me, so that we can score some of those.  We both know who trains who around here.”
Me: “I’m glad that you boys loved the treats and the stew.  It really does look and smell just like my homemade stew.  I was surprised at all of the veggies that were in it.  Caru is available in Canada, so our friends living there can have some of this deliciousness too!  Are y’all ready to give your paws up for Caru?  One means you weren’t impressed and five paws mean is was a hit.
Bentley: “I’d like to give it ten paws, it’s just that great!”
Pierre: “I’m with you on that Bentley.  Gramma needs to buy it by the case!  I want it on my food
all of the time and if she would make more of those frozen treats, that’d be terrific.  Of course, a lot more bags of the chicken treats would rock too!

Bentley: “Without a second thought, we are unanimous in giving Caru stew and treats a solid five paws!”

  14. We are always looking for a safe pet food and treats. Some of my long time trusted pet food makers are not able to tell us the source of all of the ingredients. And we can't avoid food from you know where if we can't find out where the ingredients are sourced.

Yes, we are paranoid. Why do you ask?

  15. Just read about CURU today. LOVE the name of the brand. Great idea on using a paw mold. Happy Tasty Tuesday. Golden Woofs

  17. Oh, how sad for Jake, I can't believe that anyone could do that.
I think I have an email from Caru to try their products, but hadn't had a chance to look into it yet. After your great review, I think we'll give it a try! And what a clever idea to freeze the leftovers!
