Bentley: “Hey, have y’all heard about Riley’s Organic Dog Treats? He makes super tasty treats in two sizes and
two flavors. I’m not saying that Riley
and I are really great friends. All I am
saying is that Riley sent me bags of big bone treats and bags of small bone
treats. Not to brag, but he sent me both
flavors in each style. Just sayin’…”
Me: “Bentley, you are not friends with the real Riley. He is the dog that was the inspiration for
these
nutritious treats. His human dad, Grant Weber is the founder of Riley’s Organic Treats and a second-generation corn and
soybean farmer. His long days in the
field were spent with his constant companion and best dog Riley.
Bentley: “I distinctly said that I was not saying that we are really great friends. You are going to have to listen better if we
are going to do these group reviews. Pierre
did you hear what I said?”
Pierre: “I heard exactly what you said or didn’t say. I’m confused.
Still, your buddy Riley did send us some awesome treats. He is also a conscientious chef. You know how sensitive I can be when it comes
to our environment. I appreciate that
Riley doesn’t use chemicals like fungicides, herbicides, or insecticides on
their foods. They also have their
factory in Illinois, which allows them to source many of their ingredients from
the farmers in America’s Heartland. That
helps reduce their carbon footprint too.”
Me: “I’m glad that you care about things like that, Pierre. Did you read Riley’s company beliefs? It is a beautiful philosophy.”
**We believe best friends can be the furry
ones. We believe everyone should love a
dog. We believe that because dogs make a
difference in our lives, we should make a difference in theirs. We believe in being good corporate citizens ~
good global citizens and good human beings.
We believe that doing the right thing sometimes is harder, but it is
worth it.
Bentley: “I believe that we should get another one of those Sweet Potato Treats. Good grief, the smell of sweet
potatoes and cinnamon remind me of Mom’s Thanksgiving pies. Please, hand me a paper towel Pierre. This smell has me drooling like I sprung a leak
over here.”
Pierre: “Dang Bentley. That is some serious puddling! I do believe a couple of bones would
certainly inspire me. The Sweet Potato
Bones are rich in protein, antioxidants, and vitamins that will keep our immune
systems and our coats healthy. We
know that you want that for us right, Gramma?”
**Helps himself to a small
Riley's Bone.
Bentley: “Yeah Mom, you want us to
have a good immune system and shiny coats, don’t ya? Let me go ahead and just grab one of these Peanut Butter Molasses Bones. Excuse me for reaching my snout in front of you, Mom.”
Me: “Seriously? Are y’all going to stuff your faces while we
are supposed to be working? What about
me?”
Pierre:
“It says right on the bag that it is human grade quality. You could eat it with us.”
Bentley: “Don’t be offering her our
snacks. She’ll be begging and whining if
we give in to her.
I really like how
the small bones are in these little carry around bags. They are going to be perfect when we go on
car rides. I’m sure that Mom’ll think
they are perfect for training lessons.” **Winks at Pierre and
snickers
Me: “You
know that is a good idea. These are the
perfect size to bribe y’all into minding.
I can carry these bags in my new doggie bag. They are a great size for a quick snack. Neither recipe contains corn, soy,
preservatives, added sugar, salt, or animal by-products. That is important for you boys.”
Pierre:
“Is it me or does the word animal
by-product just sound nasty? I don’t
want to read that on the ingredients of something I’m eating. The Peanut Butter and Molasses Bones don’t
even stick to the roof of my mouth. I
get all of the peanut buttery taste without wearing my tongue out licking. That is the one thing about peanut butter
that can be brutal.”
Bentley: “You are preaching to the
choir Pierre. Sometimes, I think Mom and
Dad give us peanut butter just for their entertainment. We need to keep these Riley’s close by at all
times. Whenever they try to get us to
take a big bite of the gooey, sticky, lick til your tongue’s tired, regular
peanut butter, we will just grab our Riley’s Bones and chill.”
Me: “That’s
a good idea, y’all will be eating better, and that’s what is important. It’s not as funny as watching y’all lick and
lick with regular peanut butter though.”
Bentley: “I knew it! We were just your peanut butter jesters. I feel so used.”
Me: “Can we
get back to our review of Riley’s Organic Treats? Which one do y’all like the best, the Sweet
Potato with cinnamon or the Peanut Butter and Molasses?
Pierre:
“I love both of them the best.
It is impossible for me to choose one over the other. Let’s always have both forever, okie dokie? Are we following them on social media? Make sure we have Riley’s as our friend on Twitter, Pinterest, and Facebook. I
want to make sure they know that we love them.”
Bentley: “They are both the best for
different reasons. It is two totally
different tastes. Before we give our “Paws
Applause,” I want to comment on the little dog in their logo. It’s a caricature of my new best friend
Riley. The way he feels in their logo is
exactly how I feel when I taste either of his treats. I think Riley and I should become paw pals, write
letters, and stuff.”
Me: “Bentley,
you do not know Riley. You do resemble
his little happy dance on the package when you get a treat. Maybe y’all would have been great friends
after all. Now, let’s give them your
paws. One paw is not so great and five
paws are awesome.”
