Bentley: “Here at Barking from the
Bayou, we tend to enjoy our mealtime.
There is the anticipation of the smell, the taste that is about to fill
my mouth and tickle my taste buds that gets us excited. Could it be considered mayhem? That all depends on what Mom is serving.”
Pierre: “Nothing makes my fluffy white tail wag faster
than to see Gramma reach for a can of Merrick to add to our Merrick dry
food. OMD! It causes mayhem in my mouth. I cannot eat it fast enough!”
Bentley: “This summer, I thought I
was dreaming when we received the box chocked full of treats for us and our friends. Then, out of nowhere, the axe-wielding
deliveryman brings us a humongous box with several cans of Merrick dog food
along with a bag of Grain-free Real Chicken and Sweet Potato recipe! Mom opened a can of the new Colossal Chicken
recipe and added it to our dry chicken and sweet potato food. I didn’t think anything could taste better
than Merrick dry, but WOW! I was wrong.”
Pierre: “Do you see my tail wagging at the memory? The chunks of deboned chicken, potatoes,
peas, and carrots in a delicious broth were divine. I don’t think my head lifted from the bowl
until I was licking it clean.”
Bentley: “I saw you eating like you
were on the brink of starvation. That is
unusual for you and your fussy eating.
What I found even more bizarre was you coming over and licking my
bowl. Pfft, like I was gonna leave any,
you silly naïve boy.”
Pierre: “Well, I’ll admit that it was wishful
licking. To tell you the truth, I was
full as a tick. I just didn’t want the
taste to end. It was like a taste of
happiness in every morsel. I love
Merrick so much; they sent us treats that we shared with our friends, and now
this food. They are super sweet people
and it is obvious how much they love to make dogs happy. Merrick makes pet food the way it should be.”
Bentley: “You are right on target
about how they feel about dogs. The
awesome people at Merrick’s have introduced Forever Home for this holiday
season to benefit homeless dogs. For each
can of Forever Home purchased, a meal will be donated to PAWS Chicago. They are a leading No Kill humane
organization focusing on finding solutions to the killing of homeless pets in
Chicago and across the nation. That is an
incredibly important cause; we think all shelters should be no-kill.” shudder
Pierre: “I’ve read about PAWS Chicago before; Merrick
is their exclusive feeding partner.
They'll provide them with more than 80,000 pounds of dry and wet food in
2014-15. That includes donations of food
from all the cans of Forever Home sold this holiday season. Maybe we should ask Santa Claus to bring us about
a gazillion cans. That would help a
bunch of dogs enjoy a terrific meal. Did
you check the ingredients? The recipe
calls for chicken, Yukon Gold potatoes, Red Delicious apples, and peas. It will be like a taste of happiness in each
bite.”
Bentley: “It does sound
fantastic. We will definitely add it to
our Christmas list along with more of the Cowboy Cookout. Yee haw those are some tasty cookout vittles.
Snicker
Did I sound like a rootin’ tootin’
cowboy? The beef, sweet potatoes,
carrots, peas, and green beans would satisfy any working ranch dog. Merrick doesn’t stop there though, nope; they
add Granny Smith apples and blueberries!
Wee doggies it is epic!”
Pierre: “If Gramma could have caught that western
outburst on video, she could enter it in Merrick’s Mealtime Mayhem contest on
Facebook. She has tried to record us,
but we don’t seem to cooperate for her.
At least that’s what I heard her whining. She is going to enter with one of our
photos. Any pet parent is eligible to
share videos or photos of their Best Dog Ever going wild for the great taste of
all natural Merrick. The Grand Prize
Winner will get a 2-year supply of Merrick food. Isn’t that incredible? Maybe we should let her capture us doing our pre-mealtime
rituals.”
Bentley: “I don’t know about
that. You do that cute little happy
dance with whimpering, it’s cute. That
leaves me doing all of the hard work. I
climb onto her lap, put my head on her, and give her “The Look.” It’s when she doesn’t immediately respond
that it gets embarrassing. I put my paws
on her shoulders and smother her face with kisses until she can’t breathe. That might ruin my macho reputation if it
went viral. I can’t risk it.”
Pierre: “Yeah, I can see where it might be a
problem. It is the reason I won’t let
her capture my round-off, back handspring, aerial, full-tuck floor
routine. That would cause mayhem! I think Ginny dancing for her dinner is more
of what they have in mind. Hmmm, maybe
we could clog dance.”
Bentley: “I’m pretty sure that’s not
going to happen. Let’s ask our readers
to decide which photo they think we should enter. They can tell us in the comments. We have until November 7th to
enter, so maybe we can agree on an award-winning Merrick Mealtime Mayhem video
by then. We do still have our cans of Venison
Holiday Stew and Thanksgiving Day Dinner.
I think Mom’s being savey-savey with them, so we can have a special
dinner while they are pigging out on turkey and dressing. It will be a lot healthier for us, but she
can always buy more for the big day! After all, I am the #BestDogEver.”
Pierre: “I’ll just jot it down on the grocery list for
her. We want to enter that contest on
Merrick’s Facebook. We want to be sure
to get Gramma to tag our entry with #DogsLoveMerrick. Until then, go climb on her and let it be
known that it is mealtime.”
