Bentley: “Welcome to our final
broadcast of BFTB Channel 7 NETWoof News for 2014. I’m Bentley, the hound with a nose for news. Today, my co-anchor Pierre and I will be
covering the top stories of the year.”
Pierre:
“That’s right Bentley.
This year has really flown by here on the bayou. According to some, the older we get the
faster time goes. That is why really old
people hold onto to stuff when they walk.
Time is going by so fast for them; they have to hang on to keep for
falling over. *snicker 2014 was a fun year
and there was a lot happening in the dog world.”
Bentley: “There sure was Pierre. One of my favorites has to be Duke the Dog being
elected the first mayor of Cormorant, Minnesota. He is a Great Pyrenees and won by a
landslide. That means that the majority
of the twelve residents paid $1.00 to cast a vote for the new Mayor Duke.”
Pierre:
“Speaking of mayors, Blogville’s newly elected mayors, the
Doodle Doods, Murphy and Stanley will be sworn into office on January 9th. The inauguration is hosted my outgoing Mayor
Madi. Here is a look at January’s
Blogville Calendar. I hate to toot our
own horns but…TOOT! TOOT! Y’all are looking at Blogville Police
Department’s Tracker Team. That wasn’t
top secret, was it?”
Bentley: “Well, it’s not now. It doesn’t matter, because everything always
comes out in the end. Take the story of
Tucker in Stevens Point. His owner had
lost her diamond wedding ring five years ago.
One day, Tucker who is known as a “food burglar” ate an ice pop, stick
included. It didn’t settle very well and
came back out the same way it went in.
Tucker’s mom began cleaning up the mess when she noticed her ring was
among the yuck. The vet thinks the Popsicle
stick dislodged the ring from the bottom of Tucker’s stomach.”
Pierre:
“Dang, all I ever barf up is grass. That is a great story for the year. I’m not sure it tops this one though. Sam, a 13-year-old partially blind dog
survived a 15-story fall from one of the tallest apartment buildings in Sacramento,
California. He is bruised and swollen
with fractured ribs and pelvis. The good
news is the vets say he will make a complete recovery. How is it possible for Sam to survive such a fall? Unbelievably, he landed butt first into a hot
tub. His owner is looking at additional barricades
for his balcony.”
Bentley: “A few bars would probably
hold him. I know bars will be holding
some people involved in dog fighting from Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, and
Texas. They were involved in the second
largest seizure of pit bulls in U.S. history.
A man from Auburn received an eight-year prison sentence. It is the longest sentence in a federal
dog-fighting case. Speaking on behalf of
dogs, while that is an improvement in justice, it still isn’t nearly long
enough.”
Pierre: “You’re preaching to the
choir, my friend. Did you see that
neither of our names made the top dog names for 2014? According to one report, the top trending names
for dog, cat, and exotic pets are Bella for dogs & cats and Coco for exotic
pets. The second most popular are Bailey
for dogs, Max for cats and Mango for exotics.
Pierre will probably be all the rage in 2015.”
Bentley: “Um-huh,
probably. There were a lot of exciting
things in the sports world this year. We
are always proud of our pal Cello and her dock diving. I loved the story of the stray that wandered
into the Milwaukee Brewers summer camp program.
The team employees took him to the vet for medical attention and a
bath. The team quickly made him their
mascot and named him Hank after Hank Aaron.
I think Hank hit a homerun with his new life.”
Pierre: “I like that one
too. I am sure 2015 will bring us even
more strange, funny, and heart-warming stories.
If you know something that we need to report, contact us through email
or just leave a comment. What is the
weather forecast for the New Year’s celebrations?”
Bentley: “I have
one word for this week…COLD! There will
be snow and temperatures with a minus mark in front of it. It is even going to be cold here on the
bayou. It’s not northern cold, but the
lower 30’s and upper 20’s are silly cold!
You can stay warm and have fun by joining us at the #BlogPawsChat on Twitter
this Tuesday night from 7:00–9:00 p.m. CT.
We will be chatting with The Lucy Pet Foundation about reducing the
number of homeless pets. There will also
be some incredible prizes. Just an idea
for learning and meeting new friends.”
Pierre: “We would also like to
offer the following New Year’s Eve warning.
Humans think blowing things up in the air and on the street is a fun
celebration. Dogs think it is a sure
sign of the apocalypse. Keep your pets inside
while people are celebrating with explosives.
If you are hosting a party, put your pets in a room away from the crowd. People consuming too much alcohol and having access to
food is a dangerous combination for pets.”
Bentley: “Thanks Pierre,
I hate fireworks and this is a hard night for me. We also want to ask our readers to be sure to
have a designated driver for any celebrations.
There are too many amateur drunks on the road that night. You have four-legged friends waiting for you
at home so be safe. Thanks for all of
your support and love. Happy New Year
friends! Be sure to grab some happy!”

Hi Y'all!
ReplyDeleteBOL!!! Y'all are too funny. Happy New Year!
Y'all come on by,
Hawk aka BrownDog
You have some real newsworthy news there! We are heading below zero here...that is cold, but we don't mind this time of year. No explosives, aka fireworks, here on New Years because it is always too cold and no one wants to be outside in the middle of the night for that. One advantage to living in the cold!
ReplyDeleteWe hope you have a relaxing new year - great report as usual
ReplyDeleteWell, it surely isn't cold here in S FL but I do know that the crazy neighbors will be setting off all kinds of loud and obnoxious fireworks on New Year's Eve. They always do...thankfully, I am not afraid of them but they are so LOUD to my ears. Great news reporting, as always!
ReplyDeleteOz
I'm with you fireworks are annoying. Fortunately the people in my area stick with tons of food and booze to celebrate a new year... I hope for some oysters :o)

ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Congrats on being named Blogville's Tracker Team - now you can be like the dogs in your mama's wonderful book The Returns! I'm both happy but saddened by the fight ring bust. Happy that the awful people involved will be punished, but saddened that the rescued Pit Bulls will surely have a hard time being rehomed. Fight dogs are often good w/ people but are so trained to kill other dogs that it's hard to rehome them. Let's hope for the best.
