Happy Birthday Bentley #7

Bentley: “Hey Pierre!  Guess what day it is.

Pierre: “Is it Thanksgiving Day again?  I could use some more good food.  Is it Christmas?  Will there be presents?  How about cake?  Will there be cake?  Do I need to go take a bath?  Tell me!  The anticipation is making me crazy!”

Bentley: “You are kinda sorta right.  There will be cake and presents, but they will all be for ME!  It is my 7^th happy birthday!  This is my party and it is so big that we are spreading it out over two days!  Uh-oh…here comes Mama.  I’m fixing to be smothered with kisses.”  *rolls eyes to look macho but wags tail because he is a big mama’s boy

Me: “Happy birthday my sweet baby boy!  *major kisses, hugs, and belly rubs  I cannot believe it has been seven years since you were born.  I love you.”

Pierre: “Where is the cake and presents?  Are our friends coming by to celebrate?  Let me go style my hair.  Gramma, you go ahead and gush over Bentley.  I know that you want to tell the story of how he came to live with you.”

Bentley: “Yeah, tell me that story again.  It’s one of my favorites.”

Me: “Well, I’ve told the story lots of times, so why don’t we just let our guests click here if they want to read how you became my soul dog.  I do have some of my favorite photos to share with everyone.”

Bentley: “I’m sure glad that you didn’t have any of me in my undies.  As y’all can tell, my mom and dad take a gazillion pictures of me.  This is a special birthday for me.  You see, I have a 7 on my side, I’m my family’s 7^th dog, and it is my 7^th birthday.  Mom, I’ve been thinking about doing something special for our friends to celebrate.”

Me: “It’s your special day.  We can do whatever your little heart desires.  Except don’t say fly to Mars or anything like that.  What do you have in mind?”

Bentley: “Well, I was thinking about channeling my Inner-Oprah.  I want to have a giveaway of a few of my favorite things!”

Me: “What a great idea!  Let me go make a Rafflecopter entry form and you tell our friends about your big surprise for them.”

Bentley: “Okay, this is so cool!  Y’all enter below for a chance to win a few of my favorite things.  That’s right…you get a chance to win, you get a chance to win, and you get a chance to win!”  *Impersonating Oprah by pointing his paw towards you

Pierre: “Okay, I’m ready!  Did I miss anything?  Where is the cake?  Oohh, I see our friends are arriving!  Hey y’all, come on inside.  Help yourself to the homemade dog treats, pupcakes, frozen treats, tuna dip, and catnip; we have some dehydrated apples for those of you watching your waist.  I believe Ruby is making her famous Rubyritas over at the bar.  There is some tasty Banana Berry punch on the table.  There’s supposed to be cake somewhere!”

Me: “I see Koda and the husky gang, there’s Emma, Bailie, and Katie.  Is that Murphy and Stanley with Frankie and Ernie?  Hey Sarge!  Where is Dory and Whitley?  Everyone is welcome to get the refreshments.  Susie and Sidebite, the gator balls and gumbo are over on that table.”

Bentley: “Uh, Mom…this is supposed to be Wordless Wednesday.  We’ve done a lot of yapping.  I don’t want to be busted for be too wordy.  Do you think we should show all of my party pictures tomorrow?  I want to take some pics with my friends.  Hurry and get one of the cake before Pierre finds it!”

Me: “That’s a great idea.  Thank you for indulging us in a non-Wordless Wednesday.  Please stop by tomorrow to see Bentley’s presents, nom noms, and some of the party animals that join us today.  Good luck to everyone entering the giveaway.  A special thanks to the fabulous companies that are celebrating with us by providing Bentley’s Favorite Things.  We will spotlight each one before our drawing on December 13^th, which is my one-year blogiversary.”
