Bentley: “Thank you for
joining us for BFTB NETWoof News. We dig
up the stories that you need to know. It
is our job to start your week off with a smile as we bring you up to date on
dog happenings. I’m here with my
co-anchor Pierre. And this little chocolate
Lab cutie is Paisley, our weather girl.”
Pierre: “Happy Monday
y’all. We all love a lost dog story with
a happy ending. I’m glad to report a Pit
Bull that was stolen from its home in Galveston, Texas is back where it belongs. Blue was turned in to a shelter forty miles
outside of Indianapolis, Indiana. That’s
1,100 miles away! It’s another case of
the microchip being responsible for a happy reunion.”
Bentley: “I really have to
get me one of those chips on my shoulder.
They say it doesn’t hurt at all.
Let me jot that down so I can nag Mom about it after the broadcast. This next story is really important to
homeowners. Connecticut State
Representative Brenda Kupchick, R-Fairfield wants to make it illegal for
insurance companies to ask about or discriminate against breed-specific dogs
when they issue a homeowners policy.
Here at BFTB, we feel this should be a NATIONAL law. There are families that are in jeopardy of
losing their home insurance because of the breed of dog they love. I hope the dog owners of Connecticut rally
behind this bill.”
Pierre: “Speaking of
politics, don’t forget to send in our R.S.V.P. for Blogville’s Heart-2-Heart Valentine’s
Day Dance that the Mayor Doods are hosting. Everybody is going to be there. If any of our viewers are interested, visit
Murphy & Stanley for the details.
One dog that won’t have trouble getting a date is Bella Mia, a
three-year old Maltese from Queens, New York.
This little lady is set to inherit a Florida vacation home, jewelry, and
her incredible doggie wardrobe. The
trust fund pup will have a caregiver to tend to her needs, which include
strolls in her baby carriage. Hmmm, I
don’t see Bella’s phone number on these notes.
I’m sure she needs a cute curly-haired Westie to lounge around the
Florida crib with her.”
Bentley: “Pierre, you are
nothing if not selfless. Nudge Paisley
and let her know it is time for the weather.
In the meantime, let’s look at some winter safety tips for pets. Of course, we strongly urge everyone to bring
their dogs and cats indoors during the cold weather. If that is impossible, please take the
following precautions:
1.
Provide
proper housing. Be sure it is elevated
off the ground, dry, and draft-free.
Dogs and cats are susceptible to hypothermia just like humans. Thick fur helps, but most dogs are not
blessed with a coat that will shield them from the extreme temperatures.
2. Place bedding material like fleece, thick carpet pads, blankets, dog beds, or even
clean hay in house to provide extra warmth.
Adding a flap door make from towels, mats, or rugs can help block the
cold wind.
3.
Make
sure your dog is able to turn comfortably around inside its house. Do not let snow or ice collect on top of the
house.
4. Be sure to keep extra dog food on hand in case storms keep you off the roads.
Paisley: “Hi y’all. I’m ready for my weather report. How have you enjoyed the lovely temperatures this past week? It’s been nice, huh? Well, that is sure about to change! Our friends in northern New Jersey to Massachusetts
are expecting a possible blizzard. Heavy
snows and blowing winds could make for a miserable couple of days with up to 24
inches of snow. Folks living north of Boston
might get buried under 3 feet of the white stuff.”
Pierre: “Wow! There are going to be some pup sicles if
humans don’t bundle their dogs up before trudging out in that mess. How about here in the south? Are we going to be building snowmen?”
Paisley: “Not this
week. The weather in the rest of our
country will be mild with temps reaching the low 60’s in many states. The west may see some rain clouds and storms
this week. The main worry is this
humongous snow in the northeast. Please
take care of yourselves. No pets should
be outside during this weather event.”
Bentley: “Thanks Paisley. You are getting to be quite the meteorologist. We appreciate everyone joining us today. Please visit throughout the weeks for more
fun and information. Don’t forget to
nominate your favorite blog for BlogPaws Nose-to-Nose awards. . It
is fast, easy, and means so much. Click here for our post with the information.
On behalf of Pierre, Paisley, and myself; have an awesome day and be
sure to grab yourself some happy.”

Never heard of house insurances being affected by the dog you own! Does that mean if you have a soppy dog (like me!) your house insurance goes up! (assuming they think I'd lick someone to death rather than bark at them?)

Great news round up dudes and looks like the weather is improving at last. Have a marvellous Monday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
We are sad about the weather. Our winter this year is a total dud, way too warm and not enough snow. It happens every couple years, but we are not liking it. I hope we are all still on for the Valentines dance. I've been studying up on making Valentines...mainly for my sweetie :) Have a howling good start to the week! Your Emma
ReplyDeleteI cross my paws for Coneticut and I hope it will be a worldwide law, the peeps here have hard to fight for an insurance too or in worst case they need a permit that they can have dogs of special breeds.
ReplyDeleteEasy Rider
One thing I will never understand is how people can leave their dogs outside in winter - no matter how good a dog house they have - especially short hair breeds. We see that a lot around here - hunting hound dogs left outside all year long in little 6 foot square pens - only taken out while hunting...it breaks our heart
ReplyDeleteUp here in New Jersey, the snow has already started. We're expected to get at least a foot of it, probably even more. The dogs like it, so it should be fun.

OMD Paisley.... it is SNOWING on OUR hill today... we have about 3 1/2 inches and it is on top of ICE... and still coming down in small flakes... We feel SOOOOOO sorry fur the North East... that will be very hard on Every Peep and Pup and PURRIE Kitty...
ReplyDeleteWonderful news report today ... we are glad that the Micro Chip got that one home again... HOME AGAIN is OUR micro chip's Name... Butt we will say... it Does kinda HURT... it is better to have it done when you are NAPPING at the Vet's Place... like fur Dentals or fur ...GASP... Bobble Ectomies or Who Who ectomies.
We agree Bentley, but your Mama for one of those chip things...we didn't get ours until we were a bit older, they didn't hurt a bit!

ReplyDeleteHey, we here at Casa De Mad Scots are all for the Insurance bill. As for being outside...man we gots awesome warm pup houses, heavy double layer carpet on the bottom, some old cargo blankets foam filled soft beds to snuggle in and some thin carpet stuff for doors. But bestes of all we are left out only for a coulpe of hours at the most till Dad gets home. Dad put a temp gauge in there when it was 25 outside and it stayed at no lower then 38 inside! Loves it perfect for sleeping

ReplyDeleteGreat news report, guys, and Paisley! We were hoping for a huge pile of snow here in NH, but it seems the big storm is staying mostly south of us. We're getting snow, but nothing significant! We just hope everyone that is getting hit hard stays safe.
