Barking
from the Bayou was honored to receive TWO Liebster Awards last month. Our friends Cello’s Corner and K9s Over Coffee were both extremely kind in their nomination of our blog.
We
have reported on Cello’s Corner during our BFTB NETWoof Sports. Cello and her younger prodigy Hooch are Dock
Diving Dogs of the highest order. The
amazing German Short Haired Pointers spend most weekends at events and invite
their readers to join them via Instagram, Facebook, and their website, Cello’s Corner. Jenny and her husband Brian have
an incredible 1927 log home that they have completely restored. I am in total awe of the entire gang from
Cello’s Corner! Thanks so much for
thinking of us!
If
you haven’t met K9s Over Coffee, then you are missing a great way to enjoy your
first, second, or fifth cup of the day! Barbara
is the founder of K9s Over Coffee Customizable Pet Care Service and a fabulous
blog by the same name. She offers great
tips, products reviews, and wonderful photography. You’ll enjoy adventures with Barbara, her
husband Ian, and their two dogs Missy and Buzz. Be sure to follow her on Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter. I really appreciate K9s Over Coffee for selecting us to receive the
Liebster Award.

Okay,
all of my boxes are checked off and that leaves me to show you the proof. Since we are answering question from Cello’s
Corner and K9s Over Coffee, I thought it was only fair that Bentley answer one
set of questions. After some debate, we
decided that I would answer Cello’s questions.
Most
bloggers have a moment where they say to themselves, I need to tell
the world
about this!” What was that moment for
you?
Answer: When I first
realized that Bentley had a perfect number 7 on his side and that he was our 7th
dog, it was so stunning that I wanted to tell everyone.
What
is the craziest thing you have ever done with your dog?
Answer: We haven’t done it yet!
More
and more establishments are starting to become pet-friendly. What are your thoughts on this policy?
Answer: We do not have the luxury of pet-friendly establishments
in my city. A couple of terrific businesses
will allow pets on the terraces during fundraisers. I would LOVE to have a place to carry my dog
other than the pet store. If a dog is
well-behaved and the owner is responsible, then I am all for including them.
Have
you ever taken your dog to a dog-friendly winery/bar/restaurant or
attraction? If so, what was your
favorite place and why?
Answer: Our city has an annual Barkus & Meoux Mardi Gras Pet parade. There is always a huge turnout and it is a
wonderful day of fun and dogs! Bentley is
going to the BlogPaws conference this year which is always pet-friendly. He will be meeting a variety of animals.
What
is your favorite game to play with your dog?
Answer: Texas Hold ‘Em. He
doesn’t have a very good poker tail.
Does
your dog sleep in the bed with you?
Answer: No, he is too short and our bed is too tall. He might injure his back getting down and he
likes his own bed.
What
is the silliest thing you have ever seen your dog do?
Answer: That is hard to narrow down, although being stuck on the
side of the tub was funny.
Does
your dog participate in any organized activity, competition, or sport?
Answer: Is sleeping a competitive sport?
What
type of training do you use with your dog?
Answer: Bentley is very treat motivated. I use bribery training!
How
many dogs do you have and have you ever thought of adding another to the pack?
Answer: Pierre out ‘granddog” has been living with us for the past
year or so. He will be relocating to
live with his mom in the next few weeks.
Hopefully, we will add a Basset Hound princess to our family one day.
Do
you carry a first-aid kit when traveling with your dog? What is important to have inside it?
Answer: We have a human and a dog first aid kit. Bandages, gauze, and scissors are
important. I have a post on the subject
here.
Okay,
now it is Bentley’s turn to answer questions from K9s Over Coffee.
How
long have you been blogging and what got you started?
Answer: My mom started blogging
as a platform for her books series, The Returns. When she discovered pet blogging in December
2014, that’s when I stepped in to help her.
How
do you feel about snow?
Answer: Cold! As a southern dog, I have only experienced
snow twice in my seven years. The second
time was last week. It is not bad for us,
because it melts as quickly as it comes.
Have
you had any extreme vet bills? If so,
what was the cause?
Answer: Let me just knock on some wood here before
answering. No, we have been very blessed
with good health. *knock, knock, knock.
Do
you have a savings account dedicated entirely for your pet, and/or medical pet insurance?
Answer: I am pretty sure that I
am the sole heir to the Barking from the Bayou Empire. No worries.
Wait …what? We aren’t an
empire? Uh-oh!
Do
you free-food or do you have set meal times?
Answer: Hold on. Do you mean to tell me that there are homes
where dogs are allowed to eat whenever they desire? MOM!!!
Do
your share the bed?
Answer: I prefer to sleep in my
KONG bed alone. My people snore.
Have
you used a professional pet sitter to care for your best friends?
Answer: I have stayed at a Bed
& Biscuit on occasion, but I prefer not to allow my mom and dad to leave me
at all.
How
about a professional groomer?
Answer: I’d consider it, if a massage were part of
the deal and NO waxing.
Do
you leave any relaxing music on for your pups?
Answer: Yes, I prefer soft jazz.
What
are your all-time favorite treats?
Answer: Bananas
What’s
your #1 blogging advice?
Answer: Join the BlogPaws Community
whether you are a pet blogger or a different genre.
Both
Liebster Awards require revealing 11 random things and since I have shared most of mine, Bentley
is taking this part.
1. I have never met a cat.
2. People tell me that I snore.
3.
When I'm hungry or need to wake Mom up; I tap her arm.
4. My armpits are as soft as baby’s skin.
5. I love to have my teeth brushed.
6. My parents did not teach me to sit up. I've done it since I was a puppy
and do not do it on demand.
7.
Each time someone walks into the room, I go “belly-up” to mooch a
rub/scratch. I am not ashamed.
8. I do not howl.
9. I love to give serious shoulder hugs.
10.
If I see a human while we are out walking, I immediately feel they should be my friend.
11. I have completely changed my Mom's life and career.
We thank Cello's Corner and K9s Over Coffee once again. Instead of giving you more questions, we invite our nominees to choose any eleven questions above to answer. Here
