What is your biggest dog shampoo complaint? I know mine is the amount of shampoo that never makes it on my dog. No matter how careful I am, there is always a big glob or four that falls. That sends me into a desperate attempt to scoop and capture the globs before they go down the drain. I usually end up spilling the shampoo that did make it on my palm in the rescue. That is why when The Honest Kitchen® announced they had come out with a Solid Shampoo Sparkle Bar for dogs; I jumped at the opportunity to give it a try.
OMD! Why hadn’t anyone introduced me to this concept before now? It makes shampooing a dream. There are plenty of suds, it does a great job of cleaning, it rinses easily, and most importantly, you can’t waste any of it. I rubbed the bar in my hands and then used my hands to soap Bentley. We are using the diatomaceous earth, calendula, comfey, and aloe formula. You won’t notice an overpowering smell either. That’s important to me because I don’t want to mask the hound dog odor; I want to get rid of it. Sparkle Bar did exactly that. It also left his hair soft and relieved the itching. This will be a perfect shampoo to carry on trips.
The Honest Kitchen’s new all natural, botanical shampoo bars are handmade from organic goat’s milk from a family farm down here in the Deep South. Then, it is blended with olive and coconut oil along with herbs and botanicals. The bar we selected is used to soothe angry irritated skin. It also contains aloe vera juice. One bar will last a 30-pound dog about 18 baths and costs $12.99. That is only 43¢ per washing! I can honestly say that I love The Honest Kitchen Solid Shampoo Sparkle bar.

Bummer for you Bentley! I like baths to be real difficult so they don't happen very often. Glad you like the bar. I think Flea uses some bar soap for dog baths too.
ReplyDeletewe will have to check that out - we always end up using half a bottle of shampoo on each dog - and yes half of it goes to waste!
ReplyDeleteOur hardest time with shampoo is that we just can't get any suds to form.... Maybe we should give this a try!
ReplyDelete;)
I agree. We recently purchased some and all it does is fall off

What a great idea! Mom would love it, but we think a bath is still a bath; ewwwwwww!
ReplyDeleteHow interesting. We never thought of a bar before!

Mom has been using a Neem Bar soap she got from Wondercide and she loves how easy it is to use also. Plenty of suds with a wipe of the bar. This particular soap that you have tried sounds very interesting as I have been getting lots of baths lately for a skin issue

Your the cutest wet dog!! I also try to scoop up the blob going down the drain, lol
ReplyDeleteIt never occurred to me that bar soap could be easier to deal with, and definitely less wasteful, because yes, globs always hit the floor! I love the ingredients in this soap as well.

Definitely checking this out! I never would of thought of the shampoo not even reaching the dog. Bentley seems to enjoy his bath time so we'll have to try it out for Rae! :)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds perfect! I have the same issues with bottled shampoo, plus it's hard to juggle the bottle too with soapy hands. This sounds like a great alternative!
ReplyDelete...that sounds like the best thing, ever. Mom LOVES solid shampoo bars for herself...no bottles, no spills when the slippery bottle inevitably falls from her hands...this is a GREAT thing. Mom says she's going to look into it right away!
ReplyDeleteI've been so thrilled with these!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great and brilliant idea! Gonna have to pick some of that stuff up. Anything with calendula we love, it's so soothing on tender pup's skin.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a really good soap. I know what you mean by losing globs of shampoo when bathing the dog LOL!
