I am slowly transitioning Bentley and Pierre to a raw pet food diet. I truly feel that it is better for their overall health. I am still having a hard time putting raw store-bought meat into their bowls. I know that it is perfectly fine for our pets, but after a lifetime of being told not to eat raw meat it still makes me uneasy.
Thankfully, there is Stella & Chewy’s® Meal Mixers. It is a freeze-dried raw meat packed with 95% nutrient-rich meat, organs, and bones. I like being able to feed raw without it looking raw. The boys love the taste. As a matter of fact, a recent university study showed that 9 out of 10 dogs preferred their kibble with Stella & Chewy’s Meal Mixers. The tenth dog probably liked it better too, but there is always one in every crowd! I mean how could any pup not desire the type of food their ancestors ate?
How do I feed raw?
I feed a grain-free dog food pre-mix. That means that I add the protein source and oil. Bentley has allergies which is one of the reasons that we are moving to raw feeding. It is a wonderful way to know exactly what is going into his system. I add the hot water to my pre-mix, and then use the convenient scoop inside my bag of Stella & Chewy’s Meal Mixers to add the correct amount. There is a chart that gives the number of scoops needed when mixed with other food and when used as a complete dinner. It is ready to eat right out of the bag.
I am also a firm believer in a grain-free diet. Have you ever seen a dog ransacking a wheat field? They are meat eaters and since dogs can’t cook, they eat raw. Stella & Chewy’s Meal Mixers only use grass-fed meat, cage-free poultry, and wild-caught fish. They add organic fruits and veggies along with some probiotics and antioxidants for extra goodness. What they don’t add are grains, glutens, fillers, artificial preservatives or colorings. You can find Stella and Chewy’s Meal Mixers in four fabulous varieties; Stella’s Super Beef, Chewy’s Chicken, Tantalizing Turkey and Savory Salmon & Cod. Each tasty flavor is available in three sizes; 3.5oz, 9oz, or 18 oz.
A Little Raw Goes a Long Way
Pet parents and veterinarians agree that feeding a raw diet will help support:
· Improved appetite and digestion
· Relief from certain allergies
· A vibrant skin and coat
· Healthy teeth and gums
· Greater stamina and vitality
· A healthier immune system
Since feeding a raw diet, I have noticed Pierre’s stomach issues have subsided and Bentley’s allergies have been kept at bay. Those are two excellent reasons for me to continue feeding them the way nature intended.

Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
I usually cook for the girls, but we would love to try this food! Salmon and Cod sounds tasty!
ReplyDeleteGreat review, I think they loved it. Goose can vary in weight from 5-10#. They are really big birds. The dogs have to figure out how to pick them up correctly when they get it they get it and haul them in with no problems.
ReplyDeleteYum, yum...that Stella and Chewy's is delicious. I have been eating the Meal Mixers as a full meal and I'm loving it!

Stella & Chewy's is one of a great brands. The only thing Cookie kind of minds is that the patties have too much of an apple smell and I typically have to add some yogurt to it to make it more attractive to her.
ReplyDeleteThey all sound good but perhaps Chewy's Chicken might be most popular.
DeleteI'm real careful about any kind of diet change with pets. Even switching from less-than-ideal to better-best-idea meals should be done slowly to avoid upset tummies. And I flat don't have time to do a homemade diet correctly so this would be a great option for those with less time on their hands.
ReplyDeleteDon't know that we will ever go to raw, but we are grain free for the most part and raw infused. We use Stellas for treats sometimes so we get part of our meal while practicing our sports rather than snack calories.
ReplyDeleteThat stuff looks quite tasty
ReplyDeletePeace baby

It does look mighty tasty. Mom has a problem with raw raw too, but freeze dried is handy

I've been researching raw diet. This might be what I need to get started. Pick me, pick me.
ReplyDeleteSounds like some good stuff!
ReplyDeleteWe loooooove Stella & Chewy's! We're huge Chick-Chick-Chicken fans. Faraday has learned to open the pantry door and *cough* help himself *cough* FILM AT 11!
ReplyDeleteAnd I hope we win some Savory Salmon Stelly & Chewy's! ~RascalandRocco
ReplyDeleteOur boys loved this stuff! As did Max the cat who broke into the pantry, ripped open the bag, and ate it all. You know because we don't feed him.
ReplyDelete:)
This looks like some really yummy food! I bet that the dogs are happy to be eating something that is so species appropriate for them. I have wanted to try raw with my cats for a while, but I've been worried about the price. Stella & Chewy's looks like great stuff!
ReplyDelete- Purrs from your friends at www.PlayfulKitty.net
Mr. N loves raw. He is not a fan of kibble. The dogs look enthralled with their new food.
ReplyDeleteWe've been using the Stella & Chewy's for a little over a year now and Sherman loves it! He's a big fan of the salmon and cod!
ReplyDeleteStella and Chewys sounds delish!!!
ReplyDeleteღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
I personally LOVE sushi and steak tartare!!
ReplyDeleteBentley looked as if he were 100% in love with the contents of his bowl :-) Can't blame him, this is really great stuff!!
ReplyDeleteOk, I've been hearing so much about a raw diet but have felt VERY intimidated! You make it sound do-able! So.... what are you using for your grain free pre mix? Then, with Stella and Chewys it sounds like something even I could do!
ReplyDeleteI love Stella & Chewy's -- it was the first raw product my dog tasted and he loved it! I interviewed the owner some years ago at the Chicago Backer Christmas Show. She was so personable and informative, and I love the process the food goes through to keep it safe from contamination. Good stuff! Thanks for the great post =)
ReplyDeleteKilo loved the sample we got at Blog Paws. All raw meat products make me a little nervous, but I certainly can see the benefits.
ReplyDeleteI think my dogs would love Stella & Chewy's!
ReplyDeleteLove Stella & Chewy's! I like how you use it with your premix - genius! Our girls would love to try out their beef mixers :)
