If you have visited any of the big box retailers over the past week, you might be under the impression that the next holiday will be Christmas. It seems that each year the Christmas sales start earlier. The truth is that one of my favorite holidays is coming in only three weeks! I love Halloween. As a child, our neighborhood came alive with ghosts and goblins. There was no fear of anyone poisoning candy or putting razor blades in apples. It was a more innocent time. As an adult in the 1980’s B.C. (Before Children), we used to have a huge costume party each Halloween. When our children were young, the focus of the day was once again turned back to trick or treating fun.
Our neighborhood has always been incredibly busy on Halloween. It made for a magical time with our children. It was not unusual to count several hundred trick or treaters visiting our home. We always dressed up and had a great time handing out candy. At one time during the 90’s a Domino’s Pizza truck set up on the corner and sold pizza! Now that most of the children in the neighborhood are grown and have moved away, the crowd has gotten smaller. I still wouldn’t attempt to drive out of the neighborhood after 6:00 p.m., because the streets are still crazy crowded with trick or treaters and cars are lining both sides of the streets. I miss the days when our kids were small and the magic still filled the night.

That is the reason that I want to bring that magic to you. This year I have asked Sugar the Golden Retriever to join me in hosting my annual Halloween Spooktacular! We will co-host a blog hop beginning Friday, October 30 thru Sunday, November 1st. It is a chance for bloggers to share their best Halloween posts in one fun place. To add to the excitement, Dr. Harvey’s has agreed to give away a Spooktacular Halloween Prize Package! I promise there is no trick only treats. You can enter more than one post and we will randomly select one post to win. No voting is required.
Mark your calendars now.

I know just what you mean, Halloween was so wonderful when we were kids! The entire neighborhood was crawling with trick or treaters and no one feared any wrong-doing. These days we don't even get any trick or treaters ) -; I can't wait for your Spooktacular blog hop! I actually have two posts I'd love to include, one from last year and a new one I'm working on now - is that ok? Thanks for including a link to my review of your wonderful book!

ReplyDeleteSo excited about the Spooktacular hop! Halloween is my human mommy's all-time favorite holiday. She's bummed that she'll have to miss the first trick-or-treat night in our new neighborhood because she has some silly grownup event to attend. Your hop will give her a great taste of the ghoully goblinny fun! (I think I just made up a couple of words there!)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Halloween can be so much fun!
ReplyDeleteI agree...Halloween was so much more fun when the kids were around!! We live in a rural area so we do not get any trick or treaters. I miss going to my parents house to hand out candy...they used to have TONS of kids!! Maybe this year I will volunteer to hand out the goods at my daughter's house! Sounds like a fun blog hop!
ReplyDeleteFun!! Mom will put the badge on our side bar so we don't furgets ;)
ReplyDeleteWe'll have to see if we can come up with something for the hop - it sounds like fun!
