Bentley: “Hello and welcome to BFTB NETWoof News for the week of Thanksgiving. We have fetched some good stories to put a smile on your face as you prepare for the holiday. Pierre, what is our top story?”
Pierre: “Our readers are going to be so excited to hear this report. They can enter for a chance to ride on the Lucy Pet Products 2017 Tournament of Roses parade float on Jan. 2, 2017 in Pasadena, California. This sweepstakes prize will include a trip for four with airfare AND a four-night stay at the Pasadena Sheraton. One lucky winner from the winning family will get to ride on the Lucy Pet float while the three remaining family members will be able to watch from the VIP section in the viewing stands.
The Lucy Pet float is going to be the longest and heaviest float to ever be in the parade. All you have to do is go to the Lucy Pet Products website and fill out the entry form before midnight on December 3, 2016. You can fetch more information here. I know that we are entered and have all of our paws crossed.”
Bentley: “December 3rd is also my 9th birthday and we are having a woof-tastic celebration and giveaway too. We also want to congratulate Jackie for winning our Vita Bone Turkey Stuffing and Cranberry dog treats giveaway! I can hardly wait for Thanksgiving Day. My nose goes into overload when Mom and Dad start cooking. I’m thinking some turkey will taste mighty fine in our Dr. Harvey’s Veg-To-Bowl. I want to remind everyone to keep turkey bones, onions, nuts, bread dough, chocolate, and alcohol away from their pets. We don’t want anyone to spend the holiday at the emergency vet.”
Pierre: “Wow! I can’t believe that you are going to be 9. Do I need to help you out of your chair? Bahaha! You know that I’m just kidding. I do have an excellent story about another 9 or rather a K-9 from Massachusetts. A 70-year-old hunter with Parkinson’s disease did not return and his family became very concerned. A rescue team including police and firefighters searched on foot while the State Police Air Wing searched from above. Trooper Pat Robinson, Trooper Matt Baird and a K-9 named Caber decided to try one more sweep of the area before calling the search off for the night. They had gone about a half-mile when Caber picked up on something. The officers followed the dog and heard someone yelling and blowing a whistle. That is when they spotted the missing hunter and his dog sitting under a tree. The man showed the beginning signs of hypothermia so without Caber this could have ended very differently.”
Bentley: “I want to share a happy ending story too. Did any of you see those 3 cows stranded after the devastating earthquake in New Zealand? The land around them disappeared due to a landslide leaving them on a sort of grass island. We are glad to report they were rescued. The farmer had help digging a path and once the cows realized they could walk off the mound, they made their way home.
Hey, Paisley! How is the weather looking for Thanksgiving week?”
Paisley: “Hi y’all. Let me start off by apologizing for not forewarning my friends who were met with a blizzard this week. Wow! Those temperatures dropped fast. This week the northern states will be cold and wet with the possibility of snow flurries. The Pacific northwest will have more rain as will many areas in the middle of the U.S. and that system will be heading east throughout the week. The west coast will be sunny and nice. The Midwest will enjoy fair weather but much cooler temps at night. The south will have showers early in the week. Our friends in Florida can expect 70’s this week with a chance of storms. My wish is that no matter what the weather is you have plenty to be thankful for this year. Happy Thanksgiving!”
Bentley: “Enjoy yourself, Paisley. We want to tell our readers how very grateful we are for each and every one of you. Here’s a quick reminder that we are going to be joining Dory’s Backyard for a Thanks Blogville blog hop on November 24th. If you are a Blogville citizen, hop along with us! It is going to be a fun week here on the Bayou so we hope you stop by. Be thankful for the things you have and be sure to grab yourself some happy…and a piece of pie!”
