Bentley Basset Hound: “Welcome to this week’s BFTB NETWoof News for January 30, 2017. We are proud to be your home for the good animal news that is often overlooked by other news outlets. Here with our top story is my co-anchor, Pierre.”
Pierre Westie: “Zoos in the United States are making Twitter a happier place by posting the Great National Cute Animal Tweet-Off. There are so many adorable photos of animals that you can’t help but smile. After all of the depressing and angry tweets that we have endured, this is such a welcome relief. If you’d like to follow the fun, use the hashtag #cuteanimaltweetoff. If you need a smile, this is the hashtag to follow.”
Bentley: “If you aren’t following us on Twitter, please add us to your friends at @mk_clinton. Our next story offers proof that animals are much smarter than most humans realize. Besides us delivering your news, other animals have amazing abilities. We all know that chimpanzees share 99% of their DNA with humans so it is not surprising they are excellent at using reason to solve problems. Did you know that an octopus can learn to open a childproof medicine bottle? Crows have been observed using tools to get food and horses can recognize different body language in people. Even squirrels have an uncanny ability to remember where they bury nuts for the long winter months. I guess this just goes to show that you should never underestimate the animal kingdom.”
Pierre: “It pains me to give kudos to squirrels but they do have a knack for hoarding acorns from our yard for the winter. Staying with the intelligence of animals let me tell you about a cat that decided to become a midwife for a goat in West Virginia. The cat should actually be considered a mid-husband because he is a fellow named Pretty Boy. You can enjoy a video showing Pretty Boy massaging Cooper the goat during her contractions. He stayed beside her for days and was there when she gave birth to three healthy kids. We think this is a purr-fect example of how humans can learn love and acceptance from animals.”
Bentley: “I agree! This last report is good news for dogs. Scientists at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry have developed two new vaccines to combat canine influenza. You might remember the outbreak in Chicago and other cities last year that devastated so many. Clinical trials will begin soon so we are hoping the next flu season won’t be as bad.
How is this week’s weather forecast looking, Paisley? I know many of our friends are sick of the snow.”
Paisley: “Hello everyone! This week is going to be another hodgepodge of weather across the United States. Here in the Pacific Northwest, we will have showers and temperatures in the upper 30’s to 50’s. The California coast will be partly cloudy until the rain comes later in the week. Our friends in the south will see sunny skies and temps in the 70’s. They will also have some showers before the weekend. Clouds will cover the middle of the country and there will be a breeze. Old man winter is not going anywhere for those of you in the northern states and the Great Plains. Expect more snow mixed with some rain to continue to make driving conditions hazardous. Eastern states will have a mix of sunshine and rain from Florida to Maine. As I always say, be sure to check with your local meteorologist for important updates or warnings. Stay safe out there and if you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours.”
Bentley: “Thanks for another great forecast, Paisley. On behalf of the BFTB NETWoof team, we’d like to thank you for your continued support. For our Blogville friends, don’t forget to stop by Blogville Administration and Portrait Hall to see the unveiling of the Portrait Hall. It should be a very beautiful ceremony.
We have some great posts scheduled for this week so we hope that you stop by to see us each day. You can also follow us on our social media pages such as Instagram and Pinterest. Try to make the most of each day and be sure to grab yourself some happy.”
