Bentley: “Hello and welcome to BFTB NETWoof News for the week of February 20, 2017. We have fetched some great stories for you so let’s get right to it. Pierre, what is our top story?”
Pierre: “This might be my favorite story of 2017 and our pet parents will probably agree. BrewDog, a Scottish brewery is now offering new pet parents a week of paid leave. You read that correctly, all of their employees are allowed to take off to help bond with their new puppies or rescued dogs. They even call it a “paw-ternity” benefit, how great is that? BrewDog is going to open a brewery near Columbus, Ohio this spring. Don’t you think other companies should adopt this policy?”
Bentley: “I love this idea because new puppies need extra attention in order to settle into a new home. Speaking of homes, this next report had us shaking our heads instead of our tails. A man in Meridian, Idaho has a pet squirrel named Joey that can now be referred to as a bonafide guard squirrel! His home was robbed and when the police found the suspect, he was covered with scratches. The thief reported that the man’s squirrel kept attacking him until he left. It does pain me to have to say this, but way to be awesome, Joey!”
Pierre: “You know this has no effect on my constant chasing the squirrels in our backyard, right? We enjoy a good love story as much as any news outlet and when it involves pets that make it extra sweet. Let me explain. A couple who met on the dating app Tinder discovered they had more in common than swiping right or left. After dating, they discovered that their cats were actually brothers! They had adopted them as kittens from the same shelter and have now reunited the siblings. We hope that they all live happily ever after.”
Bentley: “We want to remind everyone of some special holidays this week. In addition to today being President’s Day, it is also Love Your Pet Day. You’ll want to get some extra hugs and kisses with your best friend in addition to spending quality time with them. Go ahead and mark your calendar for February 22 for Walking the Dog Day and Thursday the 23rd is International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day. It is a great week to be a dog!
Let’s check in with Paisley, our ace Weather Lab to see if the weather is going to cooperate. How’s it looking out there?”
Paisley: “Hey fellas! It is going to be another wet one for the west coast. I wish I could give my friends like Ruby a sunnier forecast but California and the rest of the coast are still going to be getting rain. Don’t feel too bad about it, though, the northern states and some of the east coast will be rainy too. Our friends in Utah and Colorado will experience more snow as will many of the northernmost states. The middle of the country will be breezy and quite nice. The south will be sunny and warm except for Florida where they will have hot temperatures but cloudy skies. As always, tune to your local weather stations for the latest updates and warnings.
It doesn’t matter whether it is raining or the sun is shining, be sure to celebrate the special holidays with your best friend. We all love the attention and do I really have to explain how important the Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day is to us? Paw-ty on, my friends!”
Bentley: “I’m sure you will get plenty of dog treats to celebrate, Paisley. We are wishing biscuits, walks and extended belly rubs for all of our pet pals.
This will be another great week on Barking from the Bayou so make sure that you stop by each day. It is also easy to keep track of us on social media. We are on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram. Feel free to share BFTB NETWoof News with your friends because everyone deserves some good news in their day. As for you, go out and grab yourself some happy!”
