Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and welcome to this week’s BFTB NETWoof News. We have fetched some very interesting pet reports to share with you. What is our top story, Pierre?”
Pierre Westie: “It was easy to select the best feel-good story this week. A goldfish was brought into a San Antonio pet shop by its owners because it couldn’t swim. The problem was a defective swim bladder. The awesome employees devised a type of “wheelchair”. They used a counterbalance on the bottom of the device so that the fish could swim around. You can enjoy the video to put an extra smile on your face.”
Bentley: “It is wonderful that the pet store has employees who care that much. This next story also shows what can happen when caring people get involved. A puppy named Poppy was living on her own in Botswana when an accident left her paralyzed. While most pups would give up, Poppy dragged herself for weeks searching for help. She finally found a research camp and the people there decided this determined little dog should be rescued. They nursed her until she was strong enough to make the 8-hour trip to the nearest veterinarian. Poppy will need spinal surgery and her rescuers are taking care of her until she is able to undergo the operation. Since she has already survived living in the wild with elephants, lions, hyenas, and other deadly predators, Poppy should not be afraid of a little surgery.”
Pierre: “I’m not so sure about this next story but it is purr-fect for our cat-loving friends. Demeter Fragrance Library of New York has come up with a new scent that captures the essence of the spot just behind a kitten’s neck. It should be a hit for all of the people that just can’t get enough of that warm kitty smell. “Kitten Fur” is available in sprays, roll-on, body lotion, shower gel and diffuser oils. Prices begin at $3 and go up to $39.50. Would you like to smell like kitten fur?”
Bentley: “Mom is going to have some explaining to do if she starts smelling like a kitty. As you all know, we try to keep our stories happy. Sometimes, life doesn’t always cooperate. We had to say goodbye to two wonderful friends last week. Sugar the Golden Retriever of Golden Woofs left for the Rainbow Bridge after 15 ½ years with her family. She was one of our first friends when we began blogging. I’m sure Blogville will have a tribute day for her and we will share more of our memories of this beautiful girl with the golden smile.
Nellie was the grand dame of Sand Spring Chesapeakes. She passed away suddenly on the same day as Sugar. She was not only a beautiful Chesapeake Bay Retriever but an incredible mother, hunter, and one of the best-trained dogs that I have ever watched. I know that she is running with her friend, Norman.
We send our deepest condolences to Sugar and Nellie’s families. There are no words to take away their pain, but hopefully knowing that pain is shared among all of their friends will help. We will update you to any special memorials planned.
Paisley the Weather Lab: “Welcome to the first day of spring! I know some of you in the north are wondering why nobody told Mother Nature that winter is over. You will still have rain mixed with snow this week. Don’t fret, though; the rain is going to visit most areas of the country. The Pacific Northwest, as well as the California coast, will have showers. It’ll be nice and sunny in the Plains along with the southwestern states. The south will have late-week storms and temperatures will feel more like early summer than spring. Florida will be nice but as you move up the eastern shoreline, there will be scattered storms and partly cloudy skies. The center of the country will also have showers. The good news is the rains will help the flowers bloom and that should make us all feel good. Weather can change very quickly so always check with your local stations for updates and warnings.
Bentley: “That’s very sweet, Paisley and we will make sure she gets the message. We weren’t going to forget our Mom’s birthday! We love her so much and hope that she has a wonderful day. She won’t say how old that she is but we are pretty sure that she is giving Methuselah a run for his money. You can read my interview with her for some laughs. Happy birthday, Mom ♥
We have some great posts this week and a HUGE contest beginning on Friday. You don’t want to miss a single day on Barking from the Bayou. Please share us on social media so others can read the good news too. On behalf of the BFTB News team, go out and grab yourself some happy.”
