BFTB NETWoof News April 24 2017

Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and thank you for joining us at BFTB NETWoof News. We are happy to be back this week and have some great reports. What’s our top story, Pierre?”

Pierre Westie: “Well, as you probably all know by now, April the giraffe finally delivered her baby. It’s a boy and they are both doing fine. April’s pregnancy has been closely followed by people around the world for months and there was a live stream set up on the Adventure Park’s YouTube channel. An estimated 1.2 million people watched the birth! Isn’t that amazing?”

Bentley: “Yes, it was really something to see. Speaking of seeing, a dog in Texas wandered around for three days with its head stuck in a jar. I’m guessing that his vision was very impaired! Needless to say, the poor pup was terrified and very difficult to catch. The dog, dubbed Pickles, was finally cornered by two animal control officers. They were able to remove the plastic “cheese balls” jar from his head and take him to the shelter. Pickles was severely dehydrated and frightened but is on the mend and will be available for adoption soon.”

Pierre: “Those cheese balls are hard to resist. I’m sure he was just trying to get a few licks from the bottom. Lesson learned here! We want to remind everyone that April is Heartworm Awareness Month. If you live in a region where heartworms are prevalent, please have your dog or cat tested and began a heartworm preventative immediately. It is one disease that is completely preventable but remains a leading cause of death. You can read more about heartworms on our post, Heartworms Cause Heartbreak.”

Bentley: “We take our preventative all year because our mosquitoes stay around all year! This next story is my favorite of the week and comes from my human brother a.k.a. Paisley’s dad. It happened in a Virginia animal hospital where a family was boarding their Great Pyrenees named General. Apparently, General decided to make a quick retreat from his captors and they have it all on video. General opened the door to his kennel and walks out. He opens a second door that leads to a hallway then you can see him out in the parking lot. Luckily, he was found at a home nearby and returned to his owners. I consider General a true inspiration. If you watch the video, and you really should; check out the expression of the dog in the next kennel. It cracked us up!”

Pierre: We will definitely try to open the door next time we are incarcerated! Spring and summer are the time when we enjoy sharing BFTB sports with our readers. If your pet is participating in sports, let us know of any good news. This week we are super proud of our friend Madison. She is the youngest girl at My GBGV Life and is following in the paw prints of her sisters. Not only did she have the best stay in her entire Obedience Class but she aced her Canine Good Citizen test! Madison is only 8 months old so she is way ahead of most pups. Her official title is Ethos Intel Inside CGC. Congratulations to her and her mom. We know that she will continue to amaze.”
How is the weather shaping up for this week, Paisley?”
Paisley the Weather from BFTB NETWoof Weather
Paisley the Weather Lab: “It is going to be another wet one for most us again this week. Here in the Pacific Northwest, we will have our usual scattered showers. The chance of rain goes all across the northern states but the Northeast can at least look forward to some warmer temperatures. The center of the country will have some storms and showers throughout the week. Our friends on the east coast will have to look out for scattered storms but Florida should have partly cloudy skies with a warm up expected. Louisiana and Texas will stay warm with showers midweek. Really the southwest and west coast are the only places that will have the sunshine and pleasant weather all week. Enjoy it for the rest of us! Weather can change suddenly this time of year so always tune into your local weather station for warnings and updates.”
Bentley: “We will keep our eyes to the sky, Paisley. By the way, our mom and dad loved visiting with you last week. They said you were really happy to see them.
On behalf of the BFTB NETWoof News, thank you all for dropping by today. We have a great week ahead with the introduction of a new food from Dr. Harvey’s, a Chewy review, and something exciting for you from PrideBites! It is going to be pawsome.
We wish you all a wonderful day and remind you to be sure and grab yourself some happy!”

  1. We were so happy that poor Giraffe finally had the little one, but we were also happy it happened in April since that is the Mom's name. I bet you boys wish you could see the weather person in the furs again...separation is tough. Madison says thank you for including her. She is continuing to be an over achiever getting her tracking certification last week. We will see if she gets a test spot next month. Have a great week!

  2. We saw April's baby boy being born on facebook! He is just too adorable♥

  3. Mom watched April giving birth too it was totally amazing. She said she felt like a midwife she was saying push push.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MY WORD!! Is General's last name Houdini? WE cracked up at his next door neighbor dog too. We were kinda surprised there were no alarms on the doors or deadbolts. Wow My human sis used to dog sit for the Golden Retriever Toby next door. Toby had a huge fenced in back yard with extra high fences and a really unusual latch on the gate.
He learned how to use it and his nose to catch it as it opened. Out he went. they finally had to put a slide latch on the outside of it too.
    Hugs madi your bfff

  6. Thanks for another great news report. That big dog was too smart to stay locked behind all those doors. We're glad he made it back home safe and sound.

  7. We are on the west Coast but rain is moving in. Thanks for trying to bring us good weather.

  8. Denver apparently had a role in making the April cam go viral [see] So glad Mr. Pickles was saved and we hope he finds a new fur-ever home soon! Big canine congrats to little Madison, we're so thrilled she's so accomplished on her training.

  9. Wow, so many great stories this week! We are so glad that Pickles is OK! And isn't that Madison something else.....she is an overachiever for sure!
