America Is Beautiful

Yesterday I posted 7 States, 5 Motels, 2 Cars and 1 U-Haul as we moved our son and his family from Washington to Texas. Here are a few thoughts that I took away from the trip.
1.  I would have never survived the Oregon Trail in a covered wagon. As I looked out the car window I couldn’t help but think about what the pioneers must have endured as they trudged across the mountains and valleys. They were so brave and determined.
2.  The words to America the Beautiful are some of the most accurate of any song.
3.  The political landscape of our country might be a mess, but the actual landscape is breathtaking.
Here are a few more photos from our trip.
I hope that you enjoy them.

  1. I totally agree with you Melissa! There is absolutely no way I would have been able to travel in a stagecoach! I have difficulty in a car...that's the reason we ended up with the RV!

Your pictures are gorgeous...SO, SO many beautiful scenes along the highway!! I can never understand why people always want to go overseas...there is so much to see here that one could never see it all!

I am glad y'all had a safe trip!!

    1. I always think about how people must have felt traveling and exploring the country during the pioneer days. I'm glad I was born after the air conditioner was invented! LOL! It is really beautiful to travel the highways and byways of the U.S. There are so many places that I want to see here before I would ever go overseas.

  9. I often ponder about the people who traveled all this roads many moons ago... they were heroes somehow... no clue if I would survive such a trip on a prairie schooner ... it has no A/C ;O)))
